Unicron 6 was okay. I'm less than happy that it came down to there just being a dude in the thing, but whatever. Lessons were learned, stuff got broken, a good time was had by all. The end. Spoiler Goddamnit, Arcee, who was the actual thirteenth prime?!!! Don't just cut off like that!
Spoiler I was actually okay with there being a dude in the thing because the point was that Unicron as an entity personifies destructive cycles of violence and thus that sequence was breaking away from that, like it doesn't end with OP beating the shit out of the dude but them hugging. I'm a little less satisfied with some of the stuff that was introduced p lategame like 'let's have Devisiun destroyed in the same issue we reveal there's sapient organic Devisens and this is because colonialism is bad' when like, we know colonialism is bad, that's what the entire fucking Primes were shit thing came down to, this is just raising questions you don't have time to answer. Also not exactly sure why Soundwave tapping into the... Allspark...? involved him dissolving even if I thought the intent of that bit was emotionally solid. Basically I'm fine with a lot of the emotional notes were really good but it's the worldbuilding elements I'm tripping on like, can Slide just become a Torchbearer if she's not part of the Way of Flame? Isn't there a rank that's already Mistress of Flame in waiting, why is Pyra Magna the new MoF? etc etc I do genuinely like that Shockwave gets dunked on super hard by his followers bc it turns out orchestrating a massive reveal that you were lying about everything all along is demoralizing to your loyal followers who trusted you.
One interesting Unicron 6 detail that has nothing to do with the story of Unicron 6: the full-page spread showing all cybertron's colonies, their titans, and the primes they belonged to. Mostly that Megatronus' titan was Spoiler Metroplex.
Spoiler I think I'm mostly just unhappy with the dude being just a dude, and not, like, some sort of abstract manifestation of Chaos. Like, Vector Sigma got to be a whole thing, but Unicron manifests as a single angry dude? I get that it's probably harder to hug a pillar of churning darkness, though. I think Pyra Magna gets to be the new Mistress of Flame by virtue of having the hammer. Physical control of the Symbol of Office and all that.
Spoiler Can't believe Pyra Magna just pulled a coup when the MoF was probably like 'she'll give it to the Matriarch of Incaedium'.
Spoiler I mean, that's how Primehood works, right? Whoever gets their hands on the Matrix and manages to wield it gets to be Prime.
Spoiler Yeah but we know that's not how it's supposed to work with the Mistress of Flame. There's a successor position, the Matriarch of Incaendium. Even worse, a Torchbearer team has 6 people, and Slide is replacing Stormclash, and that's fine bc that's basically how Dustup and Jumpstream got recruited too, but if Pyra becomes the MoF, I don't think she can still be a Torchbearer, so there's another slot that needs filled, but Victorion needs Pyra Magna... Look, there's just a lot of logistical problems.
