Tfw you find a neat looking fic with intriguing tags, click the title, and then the author misgenders the protagonist in the first paragraph
The therapist thing reminds me of that scene in 12 Monkeys where the main character is on the run and his doctor is along for the ride because she’s started to believe him. They’re trying to rent a room at a very shady hotel. He’s trying to explain to the guy at the front desk that the lady is not a prostitute, she’s his psychiatrist. The guy’s like... whatever floats your boat? Tbf, now that I’m thinking about it, roleplay is actually more plausible than some guy and his actual psychiatrist renting a room by the hour.
"Iris West is selfish" no she fucking isn't, fuck you. And even if she was, it would be in the manner of Tiffany Aching:
Wait Iris West is selfish? What is this, the glass house stone throwers championship? The swing a dead cat finals?
... Cullen/mage!Inq. It used to be real popular back when the game was out to the point it was just expected you'd romance him and it was extremely vanilla, but Cullen is a Problematique White Boy and so now you have to either hate his guts (because the antis of dragon age chose to stan Solas, of all people, or substitute Cullen with an actual villain in the game) or completely ignore he ever did anything bad, ever. That's not a conductive environment for good fic. I call it nonkosher hellship because of the Discourse associated with it now but, uh, it's not the most nonkosher hellship you could have in the fandom even if you don't count the convert the gays ships.
man I'm surprised, ngl I was expecting like Cullen/Anders (hi, hello, yes I put myself in this bucket on accident, yes it's lonely in here, no I don't want to leave, why do you ask) one of my fav quizzies is actually a very sweet mage lavellan who is very happily married to Cullen but bc of the worldstate I made for this it definitely involves a good few uhhhhh bumps along the road. And Brejan is very aware that Cullen is not a sweet pure angel but by the maker he tries to do right by her now that he's pulled his head out of his ass.
oh my god, i gave up trying to find good Cullen/Anders so long ago, i feel your pain. Once upon a time i wanted to read Cullen/M!Mage!Hawke/Anders and there was nothing but sand and thumbleweeds. wheres my fucked up ships. My canon quizzie is an emotionally constipated duty-bound Lavellan who spent ninety percent of her time in Haven thinking Cullen was very irritating and then ends up kissing him. i'm not opposed to happy endings for him, obviously, but it's the bumps along the road and the mentioned head-up-in-ass that i think makes the ship interesting, and the insistence that he's treated like Alistair 2.0 by the people who like him is just. tiring. I love Alistair ships, but these dudes are not interchangeable!
laffs me and ivy ended up talking about cullen/anders/my mage hawke roger/merrill once, ft mostly cullen being like 'why are you blood magicking anders in skyhold's courtyard dammit'
yeah they're really not. I wish I wasn't devoting 99% of my seriously tiny allotment of writing spoons on a Josie/OC thing I'm doing, or I'd be... idk... pretending I could actually produce tangible amounts of fic to solve both of these problems for us x3
Trying to sort out my urges to write adorable fluff from my urge to write extreme violence, attempting to see if I can balance them in the same fic, trying to work out the ranges of character ages which would be comfortable and appropriate for each level, and getting annoyed because timeskips are a bugger to write. Also, the fact that I'm an indecisive fuck.
Well, if it helps you decide whether to read the fic, it's a good tag. I think more fic should use it.
Ugh, why am I not inspired to write anything, I wanna update my fics, this is the height of rudeness.
Agreetnessed because holy shit same. I'm gonna be doing a bingo in the hopes of breaking through my writers block but ughhhhhhhh. :(
