Aw, thanks! I did want to play around with some less-well-developed quadrants. Though I'm not sure my Karkat c3< (Sollux,Eridan) is a good example of ashen romance, exactly? It's not the most functional relationship in the world.

I've been really craving FFX fanfic recently, especially either crossover/AU stuff or (if it exists aside from the one really goofy Harry Potter crossover fanfic I saw it in) Seymour shipfic where he's NOT a suave seducer and is instead an awkward virgin, because the concept both makes sense and makes me laugh so very hard. Does anyone have any recs? (I'm gonna start reading the Hobbit/FFX fusion linked on the first page, of course, but more is always good.)

(This is the goofy HP crossover, btw, which has an interesting concept and is pretty fun but it's not even remotely complete.)

Oh god, I used to have an FFX rec. It was a time travel fic where Rikku went back to Braska's pilgrimmage. but A) I know it is deadfic, it was nearly deadfic when I knew where it was, B) I have no idea where it was besides "on ffnet somewhere," C) I last read it >3 years ago and have no idea if the quality holds up as good as I remember it.

I have a flight in an hour and I could use reading material to download before I go. Does anyone have recs? Preferred fandoms: Homestuck, MCU, MMFR, Pacific Rim, but I am open to reading any fandom. Ideally: complete and >10k words. Even more ideally, containing interesting world-building, broken people supporting other broken people, extreme devotion (platonic or romantic or straddling the line between the two), and maybe spies.

The Mountains are the Same by bonehandledknife and Primarybufferpanel
Series of short fics, mostly one-, two-shots. Furiosa's crew before, during, after the movie. Feels all over the place. Warboys learning to be human always hurts, but this one is vicious.

@Exohedron I finally got around to reading The Mountains are the Same today. Why would you do that to me? I am in pain. (Thank you, A+ taste!)

I have way too many faves, but I'll pick a handful to rec here.

Above all I must recommend the Sacrifice Arc series for any HP fans; the link is to the first fic in the series, but the series itself is comprised of 7 fics, one for each of Harry's years in Hogwarts. (Each of these fics is as long as or longer than its corresponding HP book. Usually longer.) Complete, thank god. Drarry, among other things.
Arc of Sacrifices, also known as Sacrifices Arc, is a Harry Potter alternate universe in which Harry's not only a Slytherin, but also a twin. His brother, Connor, wears the mantle of the Boy Who Lives, while Harry is devoted to protecting him by making himself look ordinary - but certain people won't let Harry stay in the shadows...

child abuse/neglect, emotional manipulation/abuse, graphic violence, gore, torture, and death; the abuse and the effects of it are a long-running theme throughout, and the violence/gore/etc. are usually warned aboutbefore the chapters they occur in. It gets dark.

I still love The Serendipity Gospels, but fair warning - 130k words and hasn't been updated since 2013. Homestuck.
"And then I saw a new Alternia, for the old Alternia had passed away." -- St. Troll John Cusack

How the Empire knelt to a clown, a mutant and a lawyer.

Magic and Progress Do Not Speak as Loud as My Heart - Pacific Rim, wizard!Newt AU, Newt/Hermann, roughly 30k, complete.
Newt's time with the PPDC mostly involved trying not to jinx his Muggle lab partner, resisting the urge to let his tattoos move on their own, slipping potions in Hermann's tea, pining for his dragons, failing to keep a secret (multiple times), saving the world, and maybe falling a little bit in love. Amongst other things.

The AU in which Newt is a wizard and sucks at hiding it.

Switch, for any fans of both Leonard McCoy and the Star Trek reboot 'verse. Kirk/McCoy, 230k, complete.
The life and times of Leonard H. McCoy MD/PhD … If Leonard McCoy's life could get any fucking weirder, it would be … Jesus, he didn't even want to think what that could possibly mean, because it's already been too fucking weird to make any kind of rational sense. A Starfleet Academy story, set in the ST:XI universe.

In Wade We Trust (We Are So Screwed): Avengers and Deadpool crossover. 44k, established Clint/Coulson but the focus is on the growing friendship between Wade Wilson and Clint Barton. Complete.
“Wade Wilson dropped by last night,” Clint explained, like it was any other Friday. “Brought pizza and beer.” There was a thoughtful silence through the phone and then:
“You had a pizza party with Deadpool.” Phil said and Clint slid down the couch onto his back. Yeah, that pretty much summed up the situation.

    Exclusive: Avengers, 30k, outsider-POV, complete.
Heroes In Manhattan: From Captain America's Hidden Talents To The Truth About The Hulk, We Debunk The Myths And Expose The Daily Lives Of The Avengers.

Game of Stacks: the ridiculous and ridiculously amazing Game of Thrones library AU you never knew you needed. 149k, complete.
When the Aegon Targaryen Memorial Library at Crownlands University loses its most recent library director in a tragic accident, President Robert Baratheon turns to his friend and colleague Eddard Stark to turn the library around.

Bringing Out the Blue: an amazing Avatar: the Last Airbender AU. Nearly 250k, incomplete (last updated this June, but updates in the last few years have been sparse.)
AU. The arrow injured the Blue Spirit instead of knocking him out, and Aang never found out his identity. Zuko made a Plan to find out more about the Avatar. He didn't expect so many truths to come from the lies.

I may come back later to rec more stuff.

swirlingflight inane analysis and story spinning is my passion

While we're talking about ATLA fic, I'm fond of As The Sun.
Slightly AU fic where Aang died in the fire nation attack, and other (not quite chronologically true to ATLA canon) water and earth avatars died before the start of the story. All the world knows a fire nation avatar should show up soon, but nobody expected it to be Azula.
    Nearly 60k, complete.
tw: Azula protag with all that follows.

@Starcrossedsky Excellent. Of course, now I must strive to avoid the Zuko temptation... no matter how incredible some Zuko fics are...

Seconding @swirlingflight 's rec of As The Sun - I haven't read it in a while, but I remember it being good.

Just from the first chapter, Azula is appealing awful. So, if that's your kinda deal, I'd say go for it. Unexpectedly, it is very much my kinda deal.
