It looks like they do still make Tinker Toys! Oversized Legos are also a good option, and/or both combined if you just want to get a small set of either and see what he ends up playing with more.

I'm going to ask about kinetic sand. I could go really cheap this year and give middle nephew a box of Lego that I bought for myself and never opened, and youngest nephew some boxes of kinetic sand that I also bought for myself on clearance and never opened.

I still have a shrinkwrapped video game that my husband could make a show of giving me. (Last year we had to buy our own stocking stuffers, I had some action figures that were still in their packages so I brought those.)

Like other people have said, Lego makes products for younger children. I believe Lego Duplo is recommended for children young enough that there’s a choking hazard. The nice thing about Lego is that they are very serious about the engineering of their bricks. Every Lego set is designed to work with every other Lego set, and they’re made to last. So if he likes the Duplo bricks, he can use them with regular sized Lego sets when he gets older.

Eta: Whoop, didn’t see the latest post before replying. Well, if anyone needs to know about Lego, now they do? (My bff is Danish. I’m practically obligated to tell people about Lego.)

Yep, I've been aware of the compatibility for quite some time. I think he has basic Legos and the castoffs from his brothers. I think I'm going to go with Kinetic sand.

I understand if you're not interested in the Lego thing, but you mentioned STEM stuff, and Lego does a LOT of STEM things, so it might be worth looking into!

Kinetic sand is definitely a good back up though :)

I'll get him Lego next year. I also just remembered just how much building kits those kids have just from last year. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Okay, this is a bit technical... I have two smartphones. I want to screen-record Netflix and record my voice commenting on it, and then patch the soundfile in. Is there an easy way to do that? I suppose that I could do sound-only.

I don't torrent so I can't vouch for quality specifically, but reddit.com/r/piracy has a wiki of sites that's very useful (I use it for streaming)

  11. Does anyone have an rss feed reader that they like/would recommend that works on macs?
I just discovered my current one stopped being updated like years ago after some of the feeds went kinda wonky (oops).

Is there a way to block a specific anon on tumblr? I seem to remember my friend telling me that there was, but it was a while ago, and everything I've been able to find mentions using StatCounter and this particular person isn't showing up on StatCounter for some reason.

Is there not a block button on their asks? Because I've definitely blocked anons with no particular fuss before.

I'll have to look the next time they send me one, lol. I've been nuking the asks on sight because they're really heinous.

I have ideas for some stories I intend to get published; should I refrain from posting bios/pictures/etc about the characters online beforehand? I know that used to be the protocol, but if they already have a following, would that make it easier to get published?

Yeah, if they or you have a following it's way easier to get published.

What does following do? Upon my joining, idiomie and I (naturally) followed each other; I expected that it would give me notifications of new posts made but that's very clearly not a thing so I can't really tell what it actually means?

I hear ao3 has a function that allows you to give someone permission to take over/take guardianship of your fics if you are somehow incapacitated, but I can't find it.
