Adjusting my adopts to be more weaselly. Still haven't chosen how anthro I'm gonna go but either way I'm sticking with the narrower shoulders, looks much more weaselly that way.

Trying more detailed pixel art, and I got the eye shape right at last but they look very glazed-over and I'm struggling to get that to look better.
Try giving the pupils a deeper black/navy blue color! The contrast will make them pop out. Also opening the eyes a bit more and giving the eyebrows some thickness will make them less thousand-yard-starey, unless that is your intention :D They've got a nice shape already!
The character's meant to look tired, but not a zombie, so yeah, I'll try opening the eyes a bit further.
@mrozna You're right, this looks a lot better, but he still doesn't quite look like he's actually looking forward at anything. Is the pupil shape off? It doesn't look quite right but I can't pinpoint why.
It looks like the pupils are Perfectly Centered, but focused pupils will actually be very mildly crosseyed/brought together bc 3d vision requires slightly different angles of the viewed object. Maybe move each pupil one or two pixels towards the center?
Oh, if he's meant to look forward then raise the pupils a little bit :O The shape miiiight affect the direction he's looking at also, yeah. I'd try a more circle-like shape.
my style is pretty different from yours and this might not be helpful regardless, so feel free to disregard this, but! while something like this is technically looking straight ahead, seconding loq that making them sliiiightly crosseyed helps them look a little more like they're staring at the viewer. i might also make the iris smaller and rounder? something like this
Okay, this looks a lot better, but is there too much white in the outer corners of his eyes? Some shading of the whites might make that look better.
Still need to sort out how to shade eyelids, but I think the eyes look amazing now! Thanks, everyone.
