I'm personally not a fan of the idea of making the entire subforum private, if only because I can see people wanting more public threads. That being said, though, I am 500% in favor of there being a private sub-subforum a la Brainbent! I think that's the best way to go about it--I definitely agree that there should be a private section, and I'll probably end up making my own thread in said section, but I don't think people should be disallowed from making public blogette threads. (EDIT: Apologies if this is a bit incoherent, I'm running on very little sleep! x_x)
Addendum: While I am not huge on the forum being 100% private, I would prefer that to it being 100% public. Basically my personal thoughts on what would be best are "public with private subforum > 100% private > 100% public." I'm no expert in running a forum, though, and I trust the mods to make a good decision either way.
Yes to forum, yes to privatising it or a subsection, if only for those that need it. I myself often want to post fandom or OC thoughts on my vent thread but the record scratch dissonance of doing that in the middle of a bunch of dark & heavy shit isnt my jam, so I mostly abstain. Would be nice to have place for that where feedback & discussion feels good instead of sometimes out of place or intrusive like vent threads. I like to make frens :v
Oh, hey, on moving things: reports don't thread. But! If you make a list of post numbers you want moved and report that, it's super crazy easy to just click a billion things and move them in one go.
i'm trying to think of a way that there can be private space while also allowing you to, for instance, link someone on another site to something you posted. making a sub-sub that's private allows folks to create their thread there, or have it moved there, if they want privacy, but it seems a little clunky and i wonder if there's some clever work-around. that's what i'll do if there isn't, though.
wait til it's set up. i might not get to it today, i'm not feeling tip-top. though i might get spergy about technical admin work after some more caffeine, because sometimes that's very soothing to do. :D @ other mods: i'm volunteering to do all the thread janitor work. i'd appreciate if you'd spot me and point out if i heck it up anywhere, but i'm happy to take on the bulk of the work resulting from my suggestion. not just because it was my idea that created the work, but also because it's kinda fun for me. @ everyone: i'll make an announcement in this thread when i'm ready to get started. most likely within the next couple-three days.
I also enjoy thread janitor work when I don't have to make decisions. If you get backed up, feel free to let me know :)
Nthing the "I would love this to be a thing" comments. The main reason I don't really have a vent thread (and why I...kinda slacked off on updates to my other thread in ITA, for a while) is because most of what I want to post isn't venting, per se? It's just...rambling about how the day went, or reminders for myself. Making sure that I have something to remember how things went, so I don't gotta rely on fuzzy memory to do so. And posting that in a vent, or in my other thread, feels weird and inappropriate; those aren't the places for what amounts to a personal diary that I'm chill with letting some people see.
alrighty, bijou blogette exists! so does the private subsub, except i don't think i understood how to make it private, so don't trust it yet. i'll try to get seebs to fix it. go ahead and report things for moving. please be specific. if you don't want your entire thread moved, please create the thread to move posts to. you know the drill. let the memeing and shitposting flourish!
I assume private makes it invisible to guests - I just logged out for a bit and I could see the sub and the threads inside of it, but couldn't say the same about things like Top Serket or the Holler Closet. Don't think it's good yet.
can we have two blog threads? I'd kind of like to have one for NOPE NO PEEKING and one for stuff I wouldn't mind people seeing from me
Yeah, for private-private, the Diaries are a good idea. But in general: I'd like to reiterate that this is a lawless dictatorship with no rules or limits on threads. If you want multiple bijou blogettes, I can't see why that would be a problem.
Also, to clarify: If we wanna make a new thread and transfer posts over, the best thing to do is make a post with a list of the post ids of what we wanna transfer and report that post?
That's how most of the reports I've seen have done it, so I'm gonna say yeah. Post IDs/#s of the posts, links directly to the posts, however you want to do it. ETA: Make sure you make your new thread beforehand, and please link to it in the report.
