Is this a reasonable attempt at drawing textured hair/box braids? She's a remake of an old character who I drew with straight hair, but it's not really fair to ignore dominant genes and mixed-race representation solely for ease of drawing, so I'm changing that.
Okay, how do I fix that? I tried to make them crinkled-looking because at this scale drawing small coils sort of ends up as a big block of colour, but it didn't really come out right.
I’d extend the shading on the fringe to the hair on top of her head and maybe break up the highlights to make the texture more obvious.
done a couple of drawings directly in pen. really pleased with the tree, but the waterfall didn't really hold together without the extra colour.
it’s a stippling brush! i stumbled on it while looking for a textured one, and liked the vibe it gave slowly but surely i bend procreate to my will :P
