I posted this to my personal thread a week or two ago because I love the song, but I *just* put the pieces together and realized this is the most perfect possible k-class song out there. Yeah, apparently the plot of the first issue will be Windblade and Bumblebee showing around a newly created Cybertronian, basically giving the 'so this is our planet and civilization, welcome to life!' tour, and then stumbling upon the first murder in ages. Which sounds like an adorable set-up with a traumatizing twist. Welcome to life, baby! LET'S WITNESS A MURDER! But it also works because it's a great way to intro the reader to the setting, as we are also metaphorical babies here. I wonder who the newbie will be.
The mural details are also super interesting, because obviously this is foreshadowing the conflict and tone of the conflict between Optimus and Megatron, and the broken chains and flames with Megatron seem to imply a similarily industrial background and freedom-from-oppression background they had in their latest continuity, which I'm glad for. The fact that we're starting pre-war and going into the beginning of the war (and then maybe they'll jump forward? We'll see) means that we get that development as we read, too, instead of having Megatron start out as a tyrant, get a sympathetic backstory, and then circle back around to similar ideals he started with after 5 million years. IDW G1 Megatron has a lot of very fast character development on the Lost Light, especially considering the lifespans involved, and I enjoyed it but I've heard people who were more into the earlier stuff say that his characterization in late canon, while consistent with itself in that period of canon, didn't mesh right with early stuff. And that's something that's gonna happen when you've got a continuity going for 13 straight years, but that's why a fresh slate has interesting possibilities. EDIT: Of course, the alternate interpretation of Megatron's mural section is the pretty straightforward flames of destruction and holding a chain to imprison others with. But the fun thing is that you can have him start out trying to make things better and set people free and have him end up being a destructive tyrant in the prospect.

Thylacoleo was apparently Australia's take on the saber-tooth cats (but as a marsupial, because australia), so chomping would be pretty on-brand, I think XD Though now I'm reading the wikipedia page for them, because I got curious, and they've also got killer claws, beefy skulls, and scientists frequently call it the most specialized mammalian predator of all time, so I'm feeling pretty good about this as an animal for Cyclonus oh my god though consider what if tetrahex is robot australia cyclonus carries tailgate in his pouch OKAY it is sleep time now, time to go to bed, this is for the best
