Undertale - Pet dogs and date a skeleton!

So, has anyone killed an amalgamate? I almost tried, cause I couldn't figure out how to spare the glitchy motherfucker in the sink, but I figured it out before I got too desperate, and now I'm wondering what happens.

 

I don't think you can kill them? I saw a screenshot of someone trying once, and attacking just increased its health.

 

Yeah the amalgamates are absolutely 100% immune to physical attacks and cannot be fought.

Toriel tries to go back to being Queen but then gets overthrown by Undyne, who declares war on humans and swears to kill Frisk in particular once the barrier is broken.

 

Just shelled out for a copy, and am going Friendship first. Named character after a protagonist of a show all about friendship. :p

...actually, no. I don't know if I can handle starting things out with a pacifism run, and then going back in with genocide. I think I need to play things out in the worst way.

I couldn't bring myself to kill papyrus. I just couldn't do it. Friendly skeleton is too friendly for his own good ;_; Couldn't kill most of the dogs, either... and the ones who I did spare commented on Doggo's absence. Genocide run is gonna suck.

Also I was really rude to Napstablook and made him run away. Sorry, Blook.

I keep going to the data under user/appears/undertale to cheat my way out of actually grinding through the murders, to really get into the Flowey spirit of things, but the game keeps realizing what I did and fixing it. I had 99 HP for the Toriel fight, though, so it lasts at least a little while.

 

Oh my god. So, in Undertale, I just got killed by how adorable this dog is. The cuteness of the dog post-nap is literally lethal. This is wonderful.

 

a lot of the genocide run's kills are real gut punches.
Like I've never seen a game stomp on the player's conscience button so hard. Makes me want to tally up another rpg's kill count even more, because i want to know how terrible the answer is.

Spoiler: about amalgates

if you get stuck with an amalgamate, try looking carefully at the sprite to see which monsters it's pieced together from - as far as I can tell, all the amalgamate sprites besides DOG are actually assembled collage-style out of other monster sprite assets. The actions that worked on those monsters should work on the amalgamate. Iirc, all the monsters in an amalgamate come from the same area, so that might help you pin down which monsters you're dealing with. Of course, there's only 4 of them, so it's not too bad if you just do trial and error, either

 

Yes hello I'm late to the party and don't actually have the game, I've just been watching Cry play through it because I'm broke (so I haven't actually seen all the way to the ending but I also don't really mind spoilers because 9 times out of 10 I forget them anyways)

But I came here to say that I identify SO HARD with Papyrus ok and I love seeing a character like him in a game.

Doesn't actually want to date but went along with it because Frisk seemed really enthusiastic but in the end just wants to be friends? literally my experience with the first three people I dated

In short I love Papyrus so much aaaaaah
I also am just. Absolutely in love with the cleverness behind the font-themed names. Papyrus is tall and flamboyant like the Papyrus font. Sans is a short round comedian like Comic Sans. I just. I never knew font puns were a thing I needed until this game.

 

I feel so bad for Papyrus kinda because throughout the whole minigame I was like 'I love you but I love Sans more please don't feel bad if I eventually ditch you for your brother'. I don't care that you never had the official opportunity to date Sans. At the end of the date, as hilarious as it was, I actually kinda went '*sigh* this is a relief, thanks Pap. Now excuse me while I try to romance your brother SO HARD'
(I really wish you could try to date Sans. The 'date' with Alphys was super adorable and I live for being the wingman to adorable lesbians, The frienddate with Undyne was hilarious as hell and Papyrus is a goofy cutie, but goddammit Sans, LET ME TAKE YOU TO THE MOVIES AND THEN BUY YOUR POPCORN FOR YOU. LET ME LOVE YOU.)

 

Knowing Papyrus he would support you going off to date Sans SO HARD. He'd probably try to help set up an in-house date. Like setting up the kitchen to look like a restaurant and then being both chef and waiter for you and Sans. And then he'd adopt you as his sibling-in-law pretty much immediately and
... and I suddenly want to see all this happen goddammit

 

I dunno, I think Papyrus would be kind of horrified that you want to date his lazy brother. "BUT HUMAN, YOU CAN DO SO MUCH BETTER! I, PAPYRUS, PROMISED TO HELP YOU FIND THE SECOND BEST! I CAN'T LET MY EXCELLENT FRIEND SETTLE FOR MY LAYABOUT BROTHER!!"

I want to see if Toriel and Sans were interested in dating. They're at least pun friends, and Sans left you alone on her request... and there was that one circled pun in Toriel's diary is about the bonely skeleton...

 

Oh, don't get me wrong - I'd date the hell out of Sans. >_< I was totally just friendly on him until the bit in the pacifist ending where

As for Sans and Toriel..... eeeeeh. I don't see their relationship that way personally. The shipping stuff I've seen of them is cute, but also leaves a weird 'Men and Women can't just be close friends!' taste in my mouth if you know what I mean?

I ship Sans and Toriel but like. I'm a huge sucker for terrible pun making couples. I mean, yes, you CAN have that as friends, but I personally crave seeing that as a couples activity. Please give me huge dorks in love. Like give me as many dorky couples as possible.

I'm totally cool with stuff where they're friends, too, that is also an excellent thing. I am not knocking that at all.
