yeah, the rambling can get pretty hard to follow, even when reading along. i have sometimes had trouble telling what actually happened and what was just them going off on a tangent, with the way they correct themselves and stuff. i mean, i think i've figured most of it out by now and i think i know basically how the episode went, all the important stuff, but... it's not as straightforward as non-tabletop storytelling is.

I'm subscribed to 75 podcasts now. I went and literally counted them in my podcast app. I feel like my life is that Supernatural gif of Crowley unrolling his list with the words podcast list edited onto it. I started following podcasts on twitter, but then twitter was recommending me podcasts and I couldn't stop myself. I just keep subscribing to podcast after podcast. I blame My favorite murder and Last podcast on the left for this. They started it!

I stumbled across The Last Podcast On The Left, they talk about real life mystery, true crime, and horror cases, and I like it so far -- I can parse what they're saying, and their humour flows nicely.

BBC Ouch! is a good podcast that I've been listening to a lot. It's an interview & discussion show about disability. The hosts are likeable and excellent at guiding a conversation. It good.

    ooh!
Death At A Low Price is really good: you can find it by searching herbarium podcasts, which start with 2 episodes that i think are a different project. it gets better, also. in terms of plot, i think it's a bunch of people who got trapped in a liminal space convenience store. there's only like 8 episodes. i'm sorry.

also i listen to NoSleep, which.....some of them are really great and scary horror stories! some of them are Not

my roommate suggested Spooked! which seems to be some friends trying to tell each other horror stories

(i've been doing a re-listen of mbmbam, so i haven't been keeping up)

also, actively looking for more stuff like DAALP, so if you give it a listen and it reminds you of some other weird liminal space with people yelling at customers that are also aliens............gimme plz

I fell into a Magnus Archives hole around New Year's, and am on my like, third or fourth relisten?

I have to disagree with Jurgen Leitner about the nonexistence of an eldritch force of Hope -- although maybe it's just that I still define hope the sburb glitch faq way and am partial to the interpretation of hope being the last and greatest evil that Pandora released from the box.

Consider: There is an eldritch force of Hope, and MA Earth is its factory. Hope as rejection, hope as a fundamentally neutral force. Hope is the reason to still be fighting.
And that is the way Hope feeds off MA Earth. It is, for the moment, symbiotic with all other Powers -- people hope for something better, and so they can fear something that is worse. Fear and Hope create each other. You have multiple options regarding your interactions with the Powers, and they work not only in conjunction with Fear, but also in conjunction with Hope:
    • Abandon Hope and surrender to Fear: The Power eats you
    • Hold onto Hope, hold onto the Rejection of surrender: You might escape, for a while. Keep fighting. Keep hoping. (Keep fearing.)
    • Become one with the Fear: The Power eats you, but you're still around as its avatar. But as you retain a bit of humanity, you retain Hope -- which interacts weirdly with the Powers, and you Hope to strengthen the influence of your Power on MA Earth.
    • Accept your fate and stop hoping. Surrendering your Hope, but trading it for Acceptance instead of Fear: Escape, and since neither Hope nor Fear can feed off of you, they leave you alone.
That third part is the lynchpin -- The last shreds of humanity in the avatars, which house their Hope. The fighting is what Hope wants, because fighting means hoping (hoping to win, hoping to hurt your opponent, it does not matter). The constant cycle of interrupted ritual after interrupted ritual, of hoping to succeed this time, over the other Powers, is what gives Hope its stranglehold over them and MA Earth.
The Powers feed, but I am not sure they have the capacity of Hoping. But their avatars do, and one thing their avatars will never, ever, do, because of the tensions between the different factions and the diametrical opposition of certain powers, is to collectively team up and reshape the world. As long as there is a Power that is not in on it, it will move to interrupt.

And this state of circular battle also leads to the notion that things could be better among the cattle. And so they hope, that someday it will be. And so they keep fighting, and keep hoping.

I've never stated Hope is a force of Good.

Was looking specifically for this thread to make a podcast rec for mdwap, glad to see someone else who's heard it too!

If I were to compare it to something it'd be that one undertale fic with papyrus writing a porn novel and it is great

Episode 1 is mostly continuity errors and ridiculous reactions but, like the rest of the episodes, it's VERY NSFW. Here's the trailer for season 1 (tw: talk of sex, nudity, stripping, I hope I'm not missing something)

Just moved to an Android phone and I dunno what podcast app to use. Any recommendations? I also have an iPad that I use a lot for listening to podcasts so sth available on both ecosystems would be nice so I can sync between them.

I've looked through this thread and gotten some good ideas for where to start, but if anyone has any recs for fantasy action/adventure-y or superhero podcasts with the same sort of feel as taz, I'm looking for more podcasts for my best friend to listen to and that one was the only one she's really liked.

I know of one i really loved, its what got me into taz. Its super similar albeit more silly. I cannot for the life of me remember what its called. Will get back to you.

Edit: dnd is for nerds! Takes three complete beginners and an ever disgruntled gm and runs wild. It doesn't take itself serious at all, and its loads of fun!
