Considering I've ended up in a giant stress knot and yelling at people again, it's probably time I talked to a professional to untangle the mental blocks. I'm not gonna go through the NHS, by the time I get an appointment with them I'll have already solved the problem on my own, but I don't have the money for private counselling. 7cups offers free listening, but I don't think that's the same as actual counselling, does anyone have experience there? Or time to ask my parents again? I hate asking them for money but I guess they do have my mental health in mind.

Ive tried 7cups before, listeners are trained but as they are not actual counselors they will rec some other things to try if it gets heavy (e.g. suicide hotlines, local shelters, online counseling offered by an actual professional)

I think I need to talk it out with a pro. Will see if my mum's connections can help.

    ETA: They can! Good.

chthonicfatigue Bitten by a radioactive trickster god

    I FUCKED UP

Opened a full 2-litre of sparkling water to pour myself a glass before getting ready for bed and presumed I could hold it in one hand while pouring

    Dear friends, I could not

My hand spasmed like a bitch and shot a jet of high pressure carbonated water over the rim of the glass and onto the table

    where my tablet was lying

and over the TV remote control

    And beyond onto the floor

And beyond THAT onto my dear beloved husbun's chair

AND - this is the bit I really fucked up -

ONTO THE CAT WHO WAS SLEEPING THE PEACEFUL SLEEP OF THE TRULY INNOCENT AND JUST

bless her she just about touched the ceiling

I AN AN UNFIT CAT PARENT BECAUSE I LAUGHED ALL THE WAY THROUGH APOLOGISING, poor wee squeak

Anyway she is very offended and now I need to put the chair cushions in the wash which serves me right for my beverage-based hubris

I was casually bemoaning the loss of the Barbershop Quartet as a musical genre, as one does, (I think they evolved into boy bands?) when one of my coworkers whips out his membership card to "The [Municipality] Chordsmen" and they're performing at the end of April.

  9. Part of the machinery for the extending drawer in drive thru caught fire. That was kinda surreal but everyone is safe right now.

I kind of want to shave my head but my face is lumpy and it would look weird.

Fuck it, do it anyway. Hair grows back and if you really hate it you can cover it up with scarves or a wig.

Alternatively if you're worried about it you can get most of your head buzzed down to like, a four (that's the number on the guard they use, equivalent to about half an inch or 1.25cm of hair left) which should be enough for you to see close to what it looks like without going completely no hair.

Already got an undercut! The shaving part was really good sensory-wise, and I sort of want to see how it feels all over.

For trying to get back into writing again, I remember some old nightmares I could probably turn into a decent r/nosleep entry. Not very sustainable long-term because that kind of coherence and scariness-even-once-you're-awake-and-logical-again in a dream is rare but it might get me started. Considering eating cheese before bed for future inspiration, but I don't think that actually works. Anyone here do lucid dreaming? I've never managed to get it to work intentionally but I haven't really tried that hard.

Sometimes I wonder how much HGTV is floated by doctors offices around the country keeping it as their standard reception tv station.

I’m at the dentist rn but yeah, most doctors with receptions have TVs in my experience. Places that are emergency oriented are obviously different, but otherwise a waiting room has either TV or magazines everywhere, sometimes both.
