I'd assume that this is why stinging swarm is the last form you unlock when learning shapeshifting. It's a precursor to splitting your soul to bits and keeping the shards compartmentalized since you have to fracture your being into itty bitty tiny bees or wasps or hornets or whatever working as a swarm but broken down enough that technically it's just a mass of moving parts.
