Self-inserts, fine, but when it's that undisguised and that prevalent and all the stories are about the utter glorification of the character in question to the point that he LITERALLY punched out God it's a bit... too personal.
Okay, plothole from the tags and first few paragraphs of a fic; if one party in a heterosexual duo is transgender and the other isn't, why would they be in an arranged marriage for breeding purposes? I hope the "magic AU" tag pulls its weight... Doesn't say in the first chapter but I'll read on. ETA: And no, it's not a case of one of them transitioning afterwards, from the rest of the tags.
My general impression of imagine blogs is that that’s where the heterosexual side of fandom hangs out
Straight fans and eggmode trans kids, ime. It's a 50/50 mix of "imagine [dude character] getting f!reader hot chocolate while she's sick and on her period" and "imagine [dude character] buying trans!reader their first binder and gently explaining not to use ace bandages", which sort of solidifies it as 'young teen fan thing' in my head.
The extremely passive aggressive part of me always wants to write into those kinda blogs asking for f/f stuff or just ask for female content in general and see where they go but also I hate trying to create personalities for the female characters in my fandoms and I wouldn't wish it on anyone else
Unrelated but....it is *really* wierd to give your fic a title that contains the name of a character in the canon....and then not have that character in the fic in any way, shape, or form
I was trying to think of a reason someone would do that, like somehow having it Thematically linked to the character, but that still includes having the character there in some form so man. Why
I mean it is also a flower. But on the other hand it's not like the character's name is Rose, and I don't think Iris's are *such* a strong symbol that you couldn't sub them out for a different flower without changing the reading drastically
Now I'm thinking of the B-movie "Sorceress" which featured two sorcerers, a priestess, and vaguely magical female twins, but no sorceress, and a reviewer wondered if the title was an artsy metaphor or something. I'm assuming that's not the case in this one.
Within half an hour I've run across a Jeffrey Dahmer/self-insert fic, Truman/Stalin historical rpf, and an otherwise innocuous fic whose description says "inspired by Thomas Kinkade's work". I think that's enough internet for today.
"Machiavellian" does not just mean "tells lies or whatever," and it particularly doesn't mean Reigen Arataka.
Ah yes. Reigan, the only anime character to go 'hey maybe adults shouldn't be trying to fight middle school students' and successfully follow through. Sweaty conman who got turned into a meme on live television. Hobbies- being made fun of by the previously mentioned middle school students. Real sinister genius politician there.
Read that fic mentioned in my last comment, aaaand... nope, no mention of why two humans with the same chromosomal arrangement were expected to produce an heir. And yes, it was specifically mentioned that that was expected.
Me reading a fic about learning to bake: literally how does anyone over the age of five fuck up chocolate chip cookies this badly. Me, reading the author note saying that it was based off personal experience: well now Im the bitch I guess
Though I'm the person who once misread the instructions and left out half of all the ingredients except for the flour, so glass houses (tho I still think the recipe wasn't worded well!)
Okay, new minimum standard. You can use stupid epithets about hair color ("the greenette") if you want to. It sounds dumb, but whatever. The epithet just has to uniquely identify the character you're talking about out of all the characters in the scene. You may not, in other words, refer to any character in any earthlike setting as "the mammal."
Snrk snrk snrk omg How many other dang mammals are in that scene though XD Is it like anthro or pure animals characters? Well idk if that matters but I'm curious hahaha
