Earlier today a friend was bemoaning to me that apparently a disproportionate amount of Katniss/Peeta fic contains the phrase "he kneaded her breasts." Ow.
Look. I understand the confusion. But bakers, unlike cats, can tell the difference between boobs and bread.
I understand tagging specific characters with like. Sexualities or gender headcanons or states of being that differ significantly from canon, like yandere or construction worker or whatever. And I can see tagging that there is alcohol and drunkenness in the fic. What I don't get is tagging specific characters as "Drunk X" and "Drunk Y". Like man, if it was Z who was drunk I could take it but Y? Perish the thought! ....Now that I think about it, is it because they're under 21? Because like....it's a Japanese game set in a fantasy world. They are of legal Japanese drinking age and who fucking knows about fantasy world.
idk about this fic in particular without any context of other tags, but if I stumbled upon the tag of "drunk [character]" I would be expecting said character to be getting up to shenanigans because of their drunkenness, possibly also hinting at humorous and purposefully out of character interactions or even diving down into pure crack fic land. In other words I think it's an ad, as much as a warning.
yeah, when i see an avengers fic with tags like 'odin's a+ parenting' and 'loki makes poor life choices' i don't see it as a warning, i see it as part of the summary. tells me what kind of fic it is. specifically that it is a fic i want to read, because odinson family drama always entertains me.
Even if you don't have the kind of kettle that whistles, boiling water is pretty loud. I heat up water for my tea in an electric kettle and I can easily hear it boiling from the other side of the room.
Every time I find a fic, and it's an excellent premise, and then it ends on a cliffhanger right when it gets good, and then I double check and it's been unfinished since 2016 and the author never wrote another word in that fandom again. I don't usually call out authors directly but this has happened to me MULTIPLE TIMES FROM THE SAME PERSON. Spoiler ESAMA! It's esama and I adore their work but they drop over 1/3 of their fics and it infuriates me. God I just stumbled on their Naruto/MP100 crossover and it was amazing for two whole chapters and it will never be revisited!
Spoiler: that author yeaaaah esama’s like that... she’s quite good but i gotta check the dates beforehand, if it’s been over a month the chances are slim D: and on the rare occasion she’s in a fandom at the same time i am and thus posting new fics for that fandom... i’m always just like “will this be abandoned? maybe? who knows but i gotta emotionally prepare myself for it to be dropped later” eta: we’ve both complained about that author not finishing things in this thread before... some things never change
she’s the one who wrote my favorite eternally unfinished yugioh fic. and she posted the first part of a two-chapter temeraire soulmate au in December, which i read like a fool
i try not to get too fussy about people not finishing fics, because i do it a lot myself. maybe they have medical whatsits like i do. but i do hate that feeling of getting immersed in something and then coming up short. it's like walking into a wall.
Spoiler: That particular author and ffn esama's entire ffn archive disappearing was a dark day for me. There's a lot of fics that are lost forever and like. Ugh. I miss them, darn it! I don't care that they're not technically as good as the ones on ao3.
If I see one more "I changed the gender of one of the characters solely so that they could be in a heterosexual romantic relationship with another" fic, I will make an enraged tea kettle noise, because I am Done.
why is all the star trek mirror universe fic iddy noncon slavefic? i mean that’s fine but where’s my epic longfic where the team fails to make it back to their own universe and instead they kidnap mirror!Spock and become space pirate revolutionaries, complete with politics, subterfuge, adventure, and weird tragic mutual pining between Kirk and Spock as they each long for their own version of the other one? where’s my idfic, star trek fandom???
yeah, i think we noticed this fic is platonic upfront, on account of how all of the relationships are tagged with &, so you didn't need to do this, random author. performatively screaming about how much your fic isn't incest is... not a great look... antis are getting really twisted up over The Umbrella Academy, huh? (this fic isn't even Luther or Allison-centric...)
