I got curious and tried to read de Sade, and ended up laughing at how he describes people as "elderly" when they're not out of their fifties yet - that isn't funny in itself, it's a sign of the times, but it reminded me of "The Young Visiters", a story written by a nine-year-old which features "an elderly man of 42".

I completely agree with the spirit of Randall Munroe's comic about how 10 000 people learn about "that thing everyone knows" every day.

But my coworker broke my brain a bit when she asked if Dungeons and Dragons was a new game, and I think I broke hers in return when I said it had been around since the 70's.

I've been laughing for the past week over our mutual bafflement.

 

A serious Sadstuck fic was ruined for me by Dadbert feeding the kids crumpets and sending me off on a train of thought involving groinsaws. To be strictly accurate, Thirty Hs called them "chumpits", but the association is still there.
