I'm interrupting the regular memeing and shitposts for an important magical theory thought:

in many settings, including urban fantasy ones (and also in many irl magical practices), using someone's name is kinda important to 'target' a spell right. Now I do wonder, in the age of the interwebs.... could you use online handles/icons for the same? like for example i've used the same (two) handle(s) for most of anything since i started having a real online presence and I know enough people who go by their online handles irl in some form too. Like, could you use that. Has anyone used that in a setting before. Has anyone tried to use that in irl spellwork before? Inquiring Minds Have To Know.

I know that the Internet As A Thing isn't like.... extant in conjurer!Aiden's 'verse (yet. yet. the repairs of the underlying infrastructure are ongoing and while it's not the focus of Aiden's story, places like St. Louis already have local internet and computer infrastructure) but within the context of how True Names work, I've always thought that internet handles would apply. Just like stage names would, because even without being your birth name, they're still core to your identity as a person.

(I've also always liked the idea of like... use an alias for too long and it might as well be a True Name, even if it's not following the same underlying principles as the original practice around True Names.)

There are several cultures in which one's true name is not the one one's parents choose, but instead the one you chose for yourself (and sometimes in those cultures is a secret name, too) so under those principles I don't see why internet handles wouldn't work if you put enough of yourself into them and really felt it was your name and Who You Are

I'm trying the black rose bath bomb and lemme tell you...this is the eldritch lush experience i was waiting for. The water is BLACK and sparkling, with purple/grey foam islands. It smells like roses, heavy but not cloying.
This is without a doubt the lush product grimdark!rose would buy
@artistformerlyknownasdave it is also without a doubt the product Davelal would buy.

(Pictures later because RN i'm bathing in space and cannot be bothered)

    do eeeet

also: word of warning. the black coloration is from activate charcoal. you'll come out the bath looking like someone used you to sweep a chimney. Every body hair will be VERY visible, so after-bath shower much much recommended, or you will charcoal everything you love, much like a star bright makes you beglitter everything you love, but GOTHER

so i just got bunch of pictures and some voice messages from my mum, cause she's been flea-market raiding again and lemme tell you... the haul is one large, loving callout for me. I now have waiting for me:

    a plushie ferret
    a nice crystal
a green velvet choker with some sorta medallion on it
a key chain thingy from the Körperwelten exhibit, in the shape of a hand that if you hold against the light shows all the bones and blood vessels and such

    Just. perfect.
