Blood values are expected to be bad, but today clocked in as: HB:6.6; platalets: 14k, leukocytes:1.6k They should be: HB >10; platalets: >100 and leukocytes above 2 please Like, those are some bad bad values, so i started hunting down the responsible doc (took me 4 calls...) who told me he'd talk it through with his superior and then call back, which naturally never happened. So i hunted him down AGAIN only to be told that they're 'not doing anything with the Patient today anymore, and the blood was likely dilluted from an Infusion' But do i get a control? Fucking nope. Now i gotta sit here all night, praying to the gods of poor overworked lab techs, that the Patient won't start bleeding because then i gotta fucking hurry to provude blood units and probably beg the red cross for platalet units, which will take at least an hour to get here. Because the mcfucking surgeons don't wanna draw another vial today for a control OR a preemptive crossing. Just. God. They're all useless swamp gremlins!!
And the best thing? The Patient is AB+. I could literally funnel the complete content of our blood fridge, plus 7 boxes of plasma into her! If only the surgeons could cooperate and give a freaking sample to officially cross with
Oh yeah, surgeons can be fuckheads. Absolutely. Some of them are absolutely fucking useless when it comes to labs that are anything other than CRP or Leukocytes being too high.
Yeah i just. Arggm. If i call one of the internists with blood values that are way off course i can trust that 1)they know why this is a problem 2)they will take care of it asap If i do the same with a surgeon i gotta be happy if i get a control before midnight. My old boss used to call them 'plumbers for people, with the mindset to match' and GDI she wasn't wrong.
