everyone gets in a shiny rocketship with cans tied to it and blasts off. the smoke spells JUST MARRIED.
It's genfic about extracting petty vengeance via passive-aggressive puns, but I respect the philosophy.
Today I realized: "I want to write about my OCs in high-octane, life-or-death situations. I want them to struggle with their mortality." ...But the story/setting they're in has no such stakes involved. The highest stakes any of them actually have to deal with are like, unemployment, or social ostracization, or other things like that. What am I supposed to do, drop a natural disaster on them? An alien invasion? Zombies??
My current project is a series of loosely connected anecdotes from various characters. I and my cowriters have written a bunch, and now I've lost track of what order they're supposed to be published in.
I want to post the chapter I finished now, not wait until I’ve finished the chapter before it. This is my fault for working around things I don’t feel into writing at the moment, but it’s biting my in the ass now. >:’(
car breaks down in a vast state park during a snowstorm and they can't get cell reception. bam. life or death struggle that can be as minor or major as you want, from "we were really scared for a couple hours there" to "lost six toes and an ear to frostbite" to "i ate my best friend". (though in a modern setting it's hard to get the famine cannibalism without a plane crash in the himalayas, but things can get really damn hungry and scary if they didn't tell anyone where they were going to be and they're on a mountain road that doesn't get plowed in the off season.) i mean, struggling with mortality is a big component of realistic fiction, it's just the oprah bestseller types prefer Mom Cancer to wilderness survival.
when you make the executive decision to write backstory ft an eggmode enby with their assigned pronouns but keep fucking up and preemptively using 'they'
can i like not write cope fic and instead work on the actual long ass oneshot i've been working on for months brain? we have like six fic with the premise you want. I've published two of those. I'm not making it three.
When your extremely evil bad guys absolutely would be doing things that you're really not comfortable showing onscreen. Dancing around it is really awkward.
secondary protagonist’s wizardly training montage is set in an environment i’ve never experienced or read anyone’s experience of, and i have no clue how to write all the little natural details he’d definitely be noticing. what does a medieval chinese mountain village smell like? are the bugs huge? noisy? lots of mosquitoes? hardly any? bamboo right up to the doorstep, cut clear for a mile out, or what? i’m not terribly concerned with the people, what they wear, what they sound like, how they react to a tall pretty black man in a fancy coat, because that’s all up to me and my worldbuilding. but hell if i know how late in the year you get snow up there and it’s driving me nuts.
my best friend is having her first baby, and the baby shower is in a month and i decided to go a little overboard and make her 3 different crochet things: a baby blanket, a stuffed animal, and a wall decoration. i bought all the stuff about 2 weeks ago, giving myself plenty of time to finish it all... except i got about a third of the way into the blanket, and then it got REALLY HOT and i haven't wanted to work on it at all. and then i tried to get back to it, and noticed that i made a pretty crucial mistake... five rows ago. so NOW i have to rip out a bunch of my progress. also i started working out, AND i've also been trying to eat more healthily which means more cooking. which means that if i work all day, then work out, then cook dinner, i only end up with about 2 free hours to work on stuff in the evening before i need to go to bed. i only work part time, how come i still don't have enough hours in the day??
Upon request I shared a gallery of like 60 pictures I produced in the past couple year cause normally kintsugi is the only place I share my stuff. Got no response. Maybe cause it was in a group chat and there is cute cat video after it it got missed? Who knows. Either way I screm. Local artist craves validation. Next up: water is wet.
Why is it that the thing I find easiest to write off the cuff is also the thing that needs the most care with regards to all the little details I need to keep straight?
chats are a bad place for validation cuz they move too fast. i suggest making a thread in 'make it so' and posting your favorite pictures, not all at once but one or two a day to give folks time to get around to checking it out. (if advice is not a thing you wanted, i apologize for jumping in. i just like your happy lizard and hope you get the appreciation you deserve. ^_^) edit: you just said kintsugi is where you share your stuff already. durr. i read gud.
