I just want sad lesbians planning invasions on their lovers homeland because they can no longer let these injustices stand and grizzled old warriors becoming papa bears over their enthusastic protoges and a knight and his lord locoming closer and closer until one of them is tragically captured ok???

Me, drawing shoelaces: It's actually very in fashion in this world to have uneven holes on your shoes. It's this whole new style among the young up and coming cobblers called slobby shoes. All the older establishment cobblers are, like, super mad about it. This is lore.

Wip. I don't have names for them yet but they are both goddesses from wildly different pantheons who are, for some unknown reason, slummin it in the human world. Probably to get away from their families.
Goddess on the left is the goddess of those who die without being sanctified and those who have been dead so long their name is no longer remembered. Their souls reside in a world she keeps in her hair. She was taken away by The God of Gods because one of his daughters, the goddess of prophecy, had a vision that he would be killed by the daughter of another one of his daughters, the goddess of grain. When she was born he locked her away in a tower and tried to have her mother killed, but her mother ran off into the wilderness and had a child with a bird and then a fox in order to have a child who would avenge the betrayal and save their sister. The bird child was a son, the god of stories and song, but the fox child was another daughter, the goddess of the wheel, which basically means a whole lot of things but, in this case, is the concept of cycles of revenge. In the end both the God of Gods and the goddess of grain died, with the goddess of the wheel indeed killing her grandfather in revenge for her mother's death and saving her big sis. The two sisters have a strained relationship, and while they both get along with the middle bro he's a flighty dandelion of a celestial being.
Goddess on the right is the goddess of rivers, the times when the moon is shining, and travel, both around the world and between this life and the next. Her twin sister is the goddess of the sea, times when the sun is shining, homecoming, and childbirth. Their big brother is the king of the gods, little brother is the god of sorcery, crossroads, and times when neither the sun or the moon is shining. They are the four children of the Fireblood, who took the burning heat of chaos and cooled some of it, creating water. He has to live in a perpetual cycle of death and rebirth, because the fire within him cannot die but without it being tempered he would become the chaos that he once tamed. The river goddess used to be the most important to the civilization of the sibs, but once oversea trade became important her sister and older brother started to gain much more prominence, which meant in retrospect it had always been so. She and her sister argued over who would get moonless nights- she said that it was still night so it should count as hers, and her sister going, "but the moon isn't shining!" and her going, "well the sun isn't either!" which is what led to shitty little brother claiming them for his own, along with twilight and dawn and such liminal times.

For some reason I just love the idea of "higher beings" having to deal w being human for a while. Its satisfying. Is this my catholic heritage.

    Ok just kinda rambling

The Unseelie and Seelie courts have been at war for ages untold, and then a few more beyond that. Nobody knows how the Seelie and Unseelie Queens came to be, not even themselves, because back then time and causality was more of a suggestion. Through their attempts to win out over each other the whole world was created- the sea, the land, the separation of land and sky, the greater fae, the lesser fae, and the least fae, which are commonly called the fae creatures, of which the only ones that are sentient are weres. The rest are stuff like unicorns, dragons, griffins, ect. A lot of them are dead. Selkies, Satrys, Mer, and others like that are lesser fae, along with brownies, goblins, ect. Greater fae are the Fair Folk, capital Fs all around. The fae did not create mundane life, although once it really started growing they definitely took to it, breeding mundane animals to be their steeds and helpers and filling the wombs of animals with fae blood in order to create weres. Humans, when they appeared, were treated as inconsequential although occasionally useful, and besides, the fae kept to the wilds and humans usually kept to their little settlements. Only, while the fae weren't paying much attention, those little settlements got bigger and bigger, and the humans grew more and more arrogant. And one day the unthinkable happened- a human managed to kill a greater fae with nothing but their poisonous blood. The Seelie and Unseelie Queens, in an unprecedented act of cooperation, worked together to try to create a weapon against humanity. Next morning they woke up in a mutual state of *oh fuck*, having lost a lot of power because they, being essentially nature spirits, are not supposed to create *crimes against nature* such as vampires.
So current status quo. Everyone hates vampires, humans and fae alike. They are technically immortal but rarely live super long. For the past two thousand or so years the Fae Queens have withdrawn into hiding, and the war between the Seelie and Unseelie has given way to a chaotic contest between the Autumn, Summer, Spring, and Winter Courts, where they often kidnap young humans and replace them with constructed changelings in order to have a human line of defense against both humans and other fae. The were, due to their strange origin, are just terrestrial enough to be safe around humans, but because of that they are viewed with great suspicion by the rest of the fae, especially since most of the old were families are either dead or spend all their time in animal form. Most modern weres are turned humans or descended from turned humans, and are seen as being far closer to humans then fae. Despite the animosity, a lot of lesser fae who aren't necessarily super concerned with the Courts do a lot of business or make a lot of deals with humans, because its fairly easy to get items or food or power from them and if you get in good with a human they will usually protect you from other humans. There are humans who have a connection to the mystical- witches are born with a connection to the elements that they can exploit, and magicians study in order to find ways to exploit them. Either kind can barter or steal power from other beings- there are a lot of words for magic users like these but the nicest one is sorcerer.

Tried a very messy thing. Hr name is Ghost, she used to have a different one but nobody uses it anymore. She has the "power" to become incorporeal- she can effectively choose whether or not to be visible or to let material objects touch her, although if she is stressed/past her limit/ surprised/ect it defaults to not. Although she can wear clothes, and although people can touch the clothes that are on her, nobody can touch her bare skin- they just pass through.

Ok so this is going off that fae idea up there but with a slight change. There is natural or wild magic, which is either a witch-like connection to the elements (usually have fae blood in the distant past (fae cannot get impregnated by humans, only the other way around, and also its probably a bad idea but when did that ever stop ppl from fucking)) or humans who were influenced by magic while developing or very, very early in life having special abilities. Changelings tend to have something between those two- they kinda just work like changelings in WoD, where they have specific areas their magic work in. Magicians can study magic, but their magic tends to work more like video game cheats or exploits- they basically try to find shortcuts to tricking the universe. There are basically two "schools" of magicians- the grand old wizards studying in ancient sanctuaries, using their connections with the seelie to learn more about how the world works; and dipshit dorks who use arcane sigils to reach back in time and steal their favorite novelty soda from ages past. Hunters and others like them basically "borrow" celestial magic through complicated rites and have to keep their body and minds "pure" to use it. Demons will also lend you magic. Hey, the first hit might even be free! But the thing about dark magic is that its...addictive.
