I cant tell if this problem is really hard or long or if I'm just missing something? edit: oh yeah. @TheSeer edit2: it is also a decimal problem, but the way I've learned to do those is ignoring the decimal point and adding it afterwards
Holy crap. My calculator disagrees with you fairly early on, but it also tells me that this is pretty intractable to pencil-and-paper long division. It has to repeat sometime but it could theoretically go 66 digits before it does, cycling through every possible remainder. And it definitely doesn't repeat in the first 32 digits. What's the original problem you were given? Do you really need an exact answer? Would a fraction be acceptable? Ninja'd: Ah, yes, thought it might be something like that.
Screw it im going to cheat using a calculator for this one problem because fuck that. I can post a screenshot if you are interesting in the problem?
what I'd do in this case would be to do the division to about three decimals and then round it to the tenth. no sense doing the ridiculous amount of decimals thereafter.
If you'd like to share, yes. I don't want to take up your time but I generally am interested in math problems people are having trouble with. Drat, your mistake was before where you need to round to. 57 * 8 = 536, which means the first 8 in your answer is incorrect. PS, this problem is bad and your teacher should feel bad. You don't learn anything from this that you wouldn't learn from the computationally much simpler 776.96/6.4, except that math is painful and you should hate it, which is not something your math teacher should be teaching you. 67 is prime, for Athe's sake.
I somewhat doubt the teacher actually makes the math problems, honestly. I suspect they are pre-set in whatever text or curriculum she has to use.
heya guys, this is the math practice website (and app) used my my school that has computer generated problems I'd assume. It's called IXL and has math practice for grades k-12. It isnt that bad I just am not a big fan of dividing decimals. :'l otherwise I dont mind it, or math. :)
a great many people should feel bad about the stupidity and ridiculousness of the Canadian educational system. ... actually things would be a lot better if we had significantly more population, so we could have more tax money, so we could better fund the educational system, so teachers wouldn't be overworked and underpaid and unable to make a difference...

Hm...what academic level maths help? Because I could sometimes use help with my undergrad assignments, but I don't want to spam the thread with stuff no one finds useful or wants to answer!
I probably couldn't help with it, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't find it useful. The more math I know the more powerful I get etc etc
I can help with up to linear algebra, PDEs, some real analysis, and a grab bag of concepts beyond that. I also know a fair bit about numerical methods. I wasn't a math major, but a lot of stuff comes up in physics grad school.
Well that covers 3/4 of my studies this term! (Module 4 is dynamics). But sincerely, if you could help me out with linear algebra I'd be so grateful. I find it totally unintuitive.
