Unless you really want push notifications on your browser for something, I’d go ahead and turn them all off to start with.

Okay, blocking notifications from the site in question appears to have fixed it. I don't think anything actually infected my computer, it was just notifications from the site? I'll get my dad to check it out later just in case.

I'm really glad to hear it! I do think it's a good idea to have your dad give it a check just to be safe.

I can't tell you how fucking unimpressed I am at browser architects, or whoever is okaying these implementations, for creating a situation like this. This is a genuine security problem. It's not realistic or reasonable to expect users to understand how to protect themselves from the big honking abuse potential of this still relatively very new and unfamiliar feature. This is on them.

does anyone have advice for persuading two cats to not hate each other, or at least not fight? my parents have had to take in my uncle’s cat, possibly for quite a while, and she and their own cat don’t get along. the only option other than having her in our house is to leave her all alone across the street at my uncle’s and she would hate that. they’re both incredibly sweet and friendly cats, they’ll even noof the dog, but they’ve done nothing but growl at each other.

declare one room New Cat's Room for the time being, and let them get used to each others' smells for a bit before carefully (re)introducing them face-to-face. Resident Cat is probably feeling a bit territorial, and New Cat is in a 'scary' new place with no 'safe' territory of her own. Let her settle her new place jitters out for a few days, then introduce Resident Cat under supervision-- if your parents have a baby gate or similar barrier laying around, that can be useful for letting the cats see each other without (immediate, easy) access to each other for swatting. Once they've gotten used to each other while they both have space to retreat, you can let New Cat out to wander at will; I'd still suggest keeping separate food/water/litter spaces for each cat, but if they get along well enough that's not absolutely necessary.

as it happens we’ve already set New Cat up in one room - we’ve been leaving the door open so she can investigate when Resident Cat is outdoors and closing her in when he’s inside. i think there’s a baby gate in the attic somewhere, so we’ll give that a try in a few days. we might have to stack two of them, though, because He Climb. thank you!

Been trying to reboot my Etsy shop and fretting over a logo; should I just not bother with a logo for now and go with just nicely-arranged fonts for the labels till I get more in the way of budget?

What's wrong with the logo you already have?

I'm trying to do a full reboot of the shop's image, because what I have right now isn't very cohesive, and the old logo doesn't fit with what I'm trying to go for now.

  10. I’m interested in getting my own business card- name, job title, email and phone number. A couple questions- one, how do I design and get one? Two, is putting my pronouns on it a good idea or no? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a card with someone’s pronouns listed.

Not sure where you're located but Vistaprint is where most people I know in the US get their business cards and they often have deals. They also have pre-made designs for you to put your info in, iirc, so that might be good if you're new to business cards.

I've never seen a business card with pronouns, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea. Just depends on what area you're working in - might be better for one with a lot of face to face client or employer contact than for something like an internet business.

i’d say yes. a recognizable logo is only important if your product is competing on store shelves. if the customer is already at your store page i think it’s more important to have the name be readable and prominent so they remember it for next time.

im trying to play A House Of Many Doors, a game for which my computer has twice the recommended amount of memory and four times the minimum, and yet it still keeps crashing because “Your computer is low on memory - To restore enough memory for programs to work correctly, save your files and then close or restart all open programs.” the only other things i have open are Steam and the task manager, and i just restarted my laptop. does anyone have any idea wtf might be the problem? do i need to uninstall some other games or something?

Id try searching Google to see if anyone else has had a similar problem - it may be a known issue and have some already-devised workarounds or solutions.

it seems exactly one other person has had this problem, and they never solved it either :P the developer responded to them but never provided a solution. oh well - i think maybe i can avoid it by playing in windowed mode.

    How does one shower?

I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right (or at least within reasonable bounds of 'right'), but thanks to some internet conversations I overheard, I'm a little bit worried that I might somehow be doing it wrong?

A bit more context would probably help, what were people saying?

If your showering is doing what you want it to do for you, then I don't think you're showering wrong.

Uhhh, in order of operations (for me):

    Shampoo hair, rinse hair
    Condition hair
Face scrub (usually takes 30 seconds to 1 minute)
    Rinse hair + face
Scrub body down, starting with chest and back, then arms, then legs, then feet
    Rinse body down
    Profit???

As long as bits get clean, I’m not sure the order of anything matters much. I use a loofah, husband just uses straight soap.
