objectively. I am aware that I could probably learn 5e, given time and a physical rulebook that's less stupid than the pirated free PDF. I've picked up both Pathfinder and the DARPG, and 5e is supposed to be designed to be less math and easier to learn

iirc the options for saving him are
1) save the mages in broken circle and ask them for help, you can send wynne or morrigan, you only need high persuasion to send Irving, and you can send jowan if he's alive
2) let jowan live, take his offer and sacrifice isolde, everyone disapproves, except i think morrigan if you send her to the fade

curiously dorian never uses gereon's given name in game (i recently checked his dialogue over for rainier-goes-tevinter-wip) but i reckon that's most likely a) to not confuse the player, and b) bc when talking about him you're inevitably in a semi-formal setting, or do not know dorian very well yet, or there's other people present, and I'm like 90% sure that referring to your mentor/sponsor by first name only is an offense that'd get the rumor mills a-spinning right quick back in tevinter so dorian is probably very careful to avoid it in public

 

you are correct but also current context is "Dorian mid-breakdown" and also 90% internal anxiety rambling narrative, I refuse to believe even Dorian could train himself so well as to avoid every use of a given name
