I'm pretty sure it's canon in the movie that at least Munkustrap is Deuteronomy's kid, with how Tugger gestures to him at "and his numerous progeny prospers and thrives." Possibly also canon that Tugger isn't his kid, since he doesn't gesture to himself? Maybe Munku and Tugger are half-brothers through Grizabella.

 

i think one of my favorite things about cats is that SO MUCH STUFF can be canon varying by production. it makes me happy!

 

Yeah, it was one of my first fandoms and I viewed it as the perfect fandom for ficcers because basically everything about canon is left up in the air to some extent. It's just a fun world full of ambiguously anthropomorphic cats to play around in!

My other fandom at the time was Warrior Cats and I was surprised and a bit appalled that no one had written a crossover. I had a scene all planned out in my head where the two groups met and the forest cats were weirded out by the Jellicles' dancelike fighting style and weirdly poetic speech, but I never wrote it down ;_;

 

I just streamed the Broadway production and am now listening to the original West End cast recording and while many things are very much the same, Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer's song is completely different

I have not? I only know the Broadway one that Ivy got from you and the original West End recording i'm listening to right now.
And I guess whichever West End version I saw in person when I was like nine with my dad, but I was like nine and although I've kept the (well-chewed) programme from that it's at home. xP

• Rumpleteazer: crime baby no. 2. Flirty, cocky, not very smart, witty, chronic liar, klepto, good at heart.
  
  
• Victoria: dancer, in college. Vulgar, crude sense of humor, kind, friendly, popular, social drinker, social smoker.
  
  
• Rumtumtugger: singer/rockstar. Flirty “sex on a stick”, immature humor, cocky, smug, arrogant, contrary, attention whore, drinker, smokes weed.

i think i’m most unnerved by the SPOKEN DIALOGUE. IN CATS. trying to give us a plot that you don’t have to squeeze out of songs and subtext, disgustening :p

still gonna see it tho. gonna get the dvd too. babbie’s first special interest here we come motherfuckers choo choo

me too but it looks like they traded them for emotive cgi ears/tails which is YES

I hope the spoken dialogue is just sprinkled in. any exchange longer than 10 seconds is too much
