    ALBUM OF THE WEEK #1

    Album: Artificial Heart
    Artist: Jonathan Coulton
    Released: 2011

Artificial Heart is, in my humble opinion, JoCo’s best album. From the upbeat-sounding opener, Sticking It To Myself, to the fairly silly closer, The Stache, this album is just wall-to-wall bops—more “serious” than his earlier work, but never losing his nerdy sensibilities.

Top tracks: Sticking It To Myself; Nemeses; Today With Your Wife; Glasses; Good Morning Tuscon

    Listen here.

    ALBUM OF THE WEEK #2

    Album: I Like Fun
    Artist: They Might Be Giants
    Released: 2018

Most bands don’t release 20 albums, and most bands that do lose their spark eventually. This cannot be said of TMBG, whose first album of three to be released in 2018, I Like Fun, is one of their best works—and more than 30 years after the release of their first album! While darker in lyrical tone than much of their more recent work, I Like Fun never stops being...well, fun, and I can guarantee that half these tracks will get stuck in your head for weeks.

Top tracks: Let’s Get This Over With; All Time What; Mrs. Bluebeard; Push Back The Hands; Last Wave

    Listen here.

(yes i know this is late shhhhh)

also i’m listening to yes, virginia by the dresden dolls and holy fuck. i almost forgot why it’s one of my favorite non-tmbg albums ever. but it’s just…so fucking good? i can’t even pick a single favorite track—dirty business, shores of california, and necessary evil are probably my top three but there’s really not a single song on there i don’t like! ughhh so good.
