already had spark, and no hit for cat, but: matt fic again! yes yes you are cheating. no dice i'm afraid!
ngl, i was SURE i had 'stab' somewhere, but I don't. I do have stable tho, so here's that (but have another go anyways if you like)
sewed three straps, wrote 1k of robot h/c, this time the HURT is taking the mainseat. Poor Legion's gotta deal with trauma somehow.
putting this here because i love it also because I'm gently in love with the idea of working magic through songs
more ssss thoughts Spoiler firstly: i don't usually like soulmate AUs but fuck me ssss served the next best thing of it and I'm shipping it hard. I love all the little touches showing that despite both Emil and Lalli being abbrassive dicks at times, they care about each other a lot. It's so good and i love it a lot secondly, and this is gonna be dark (and i already told PR about it, who's been the main recipient of my shouting): I absolutely emotionally compromised about chapter 15 STILL like goddamn. BUT I've been thinking about Tuuri's 'i thought someone was looking out for me line' and listen. I think someone was looking out for the group as a hole. Like, the mission was underfunded, badly planned, doomed to fail (and i have Some Thoughts on Taru for that too) and despite the fact that they had their one mage pull triple duty as mage, night scout AND day scout and two non-immune people in their tank only one person died. And not just that, they even achieved their goal of grabbing a load of books and bringing important info (like the cure that did horrible things to people) And now here it goes dark: The norse pantheon is every bit as bloody as many a mesoamerican ones. Sacrificing people to them wasn't uncommon. The gods like their blood. And I'm thinking that perhaps Tuuri was... that. She's one of two finns (who explicitely are not under the protection of the norse pantheon as far as the official in-verse party line is concerned) and not affiliated to the pantheon that's supposedly watching over the rest of the party. So perhaps when Tuuri got bitten it was a blood sacrifice of a kind. One of the party dying to allow the others to go through. Because the thing is also, Tuuri was roundabout the only one who could die without taking another chunk of the party down alongside. If they'd lost either of their mages, they'd have been SuperFucked by the spirits and trolls (esp since Reynir is the one who can the protection runes). Sigrun is their main fighter, Emil is their explosive/combustive specialist, Mikkel is the one with what amounts of medical training necessary to keep Sigrun alive and from dying of sepsis along the way (and also the one who can haul her with them even when exhausted and ill and too weak to walk). Tuuri was their mechanic, but she kept the car going despite the bite as long as possible. In fact, she kept it going long enough to allow them to reach the pickup point in time. She died at a point where her main use for the group had gone irrelevant because their transport was broken for good. So perhaps, when the troll broke through the floor and was faced with a choice between two non-immunes, it...went for the one that wouldn't destroy the group. And perhaps it was a nudged that way to make Tuuri the sacrificial pawn and instead keep the rest of the group. my money is btw on Loki having an eye on Reynir because Reynir is an androgynous redheaded mage with a penchant for plans that work out in unexpected ways (the crate thing, running off to the church, accidental magic landmines...) Which yeah is a hella dark point looking at it, and narrative conventions are a thing of course, but ssss has such a fine eye on detail and foreshadowing and such that I Do Wonder about those things.
