@leitstern oh hell yes I LOVE that Zelda fic!! (despite the fact that I too have never played any of the games lol) I live in hope that it will one day be updated any videogame fic that plays around with the gameplay mechanics is a weakness of mine too. especially the kind of unrealistic mechanics that you're not supposed to look at too hard from a Watsonian point of view. it's my favorite thing, I love when authors go there :D

That is delightful. :D Honestly I'm very fond of silly tags in general? I can't think of any specific favorites I've seen, but there are so many really hilarious ones, as the AO3 Tags thread demonstrates, and I like them a lot. (And I'm frankly mostly-jokingly offended that the only fanfic with the tag "Pearl saying fuck" on AO3 is my main fic, tbh. It's a tag that needs to have more content.)
Found family. Found family where: 1. Everyone apparently has a crush on the canon main character and are very protective of him.The 2. The canon grumpy character who intimidates everyone has a soft spot for kids. (And kids are completely fearless around same.) 3. Everyone. Is so. Fucking. Cute. With lots of domestic flailing. And romance among other members of the household. The fandom is The Goblin Emperor and the fic is "A Complete Education," and the sequel, "Continuing Education." It is freaking adorable and also hilarious.
this in deadpool fanfic especially is my JAM. (also winter soldier to a lesser degree, but deadpool is funnier. he gets along with kids because he has the sense of humor of an 8-year-old.)

Writing is a good way to work out how one would handle difficult situations in real life. For the abuse support group fic I'm working on, we have side-fics about various aspects of life in the group, and one of them is an "awkward questions from children" one, where we're getting to work out what would be a good way to explain things like intersexuality, racism, and abortion to kids.

It's also just kind of cool seeing how everyone's version of the Professor is different. Like no one's is the same. We all have our own variants of this motherfucker out there and while some things may be in common mine will never be exactly the same as another's.
