in my parents old house we had a fabric gazebo structure on the deck, so it kept most things out if we left the door open for some air but not always if the things could go under the fabric. one night we heard a weird sound every once in a while, but couldn't find a source so figured it was just something outside, whatever.

parents went to bed, it was about 11, i was the only person in the living room, still heard the noise occasionally... and then a frog jumped directly onto my shoulder.

Not sure if I want to rate that winner or witnessed, on the one hand cute but on the other hand I would've startled so badly

It was very startling, but luckily my innate startle reaction is to freeze entirely so i sorta just stared at the frog for a long 10 seconds, and then picked it up and put it out in the plants around our fountain after giving him a dunk in the fountain. poor dude got dust bunnies all over him. in hindsight, a hilarious moment. nobody expects a frog to jump on them in their living room

Bless the bumbling bastards, it feels like every time I leave the house I'm dodging at least three trying to make sweet insect love(?) with my good painted denim jacket XD

I know right? They get into my room at night and there's nothing to freak you out quite like the gentle caress of tiny legs

Today I saw a mostly grey pigeon with a white blotch on its head in just the right shape to look like it was wearing a skull à la Cuboñe

I just saw my first Illinoisan chipmunk the other day! It was on the steps of the house that has the yard with the highest concentraions of cardinals, bunnies, mourning doves, etc. on the block. I think that house just attracts little beasties

Pair of golden crowned kinglets foraging in some oak trees on campus yesterday! I think I saw one actively chase and catch a bug in midair. So tiny and so cute

Nyara Perpetual lurker, chillin' under my rock

I saw a bald eagle a couple of days ago. I was vaguely aware that they're somewhat common in this part of the country, but I was not expecting one to fly overhead while I was walking to the bank.
