Idiot plots are one thing. Can we not have stories which specifically rely on all the female characters being idiots while the male ones are fine?
Reading a good fic, unfortunately has some mocking "man in a dress" and "oh he's getting a sex change" jokes It's from 2013 and maybe that's why but eh, it's not great to read
Logically, I know trying to pair up every single character in every single quadrant is just going to result in a horrible mishmash that detracts from the focal ships and the plot. The urge to do so is still overwhelming because I'm an obsessive completionist.
This fic is gr8 and very satisfying fluff and h/c but im going to lose my mind if they dont stop italicizing all the words because it loses emphasis when its so frequent and just becomes ANNOYING
If authors could figure out the difference between "strong woman who doesn't take any crap" and "abusive jackass", that would be awesome.
Author, you are going to have to put in a hell of a lot more work than half a sentence of dialog if you wish to convince me that there are any circumstances, in any universe, in which Shmi Skywalker, trained Jedi knight, allows her son to be born into slavery.
Agree, but now I want to read a fic where this premise is convincingly presented. Too bad you don't seem to be reading one.
Additionally, while I can come up with a few possible scenarios when I put enough thought into it, none of them look anything like the situation at the beginning of The Phantom Menace. Just. Nah. Nope.
one of my least favorite tropes: some supernatural entity leaks that there’s no god, or god is dead, or something along those lines, and all the unsympathetic religious characters turn into gibbering wrecks, while the sympathetic ones cast off the shackles of delusion and go around telling people that it’s totally ok there’s no heaven because this life is plenty meaningful. which of course no one ever thought of before. and there are no non-theistic religions, and all religious people are 100% fixated on the factual, concrete existence of god-as-written and their fragile tiny minds can’t survive without it. i expect that kind of nonsense from college freshmen who are sleeping in on sunday for the first time. but when i see it from an otherwise people-smart writer it makes me very depressed.
