I’m vaccinated, though. Did my patriotic duty. Going on the prowl.

Oh, and I’m walking a long way today. Bus schedules are being inconvenient and the area is flat as a dime. I’m going to get strong. Just you wait

(I did have a doctor tell me I had a medical condition that made it probably a bad idea to fight physically, though, which is. Well. A setback.

I’ve just got to brush up on stealth and diplomacy, I guess. It’ll take more than a Constitution drop to put me out of the action.)

A very different civic duty: some fucker dumped a piece of fiberglass insulation on the sidewalk. Looks like a duvet made of cotton candy. Cuts like barbed wire. It’s nasty stuff, and it was already starting to fuzz off into little pieces nearby.

So I called the city maintenance people and they’re sending somebody with appropriate protective equipment to get this off the streets before some kid decides to try to pick it up.

Getting your flu shot today? I got mine two months ago! And I worked out yesterday, so my upper body is sore and getting stronger

But I shouldn't get complacent - today's goal is tackling the mess in the kitchen.

yeah, I was sick and had to not get it at first, and then I *dramatic cough* may have gotten distracted. but you getting it that early is still objectively impressive. I guess. :D

what sort of mess do you have in your kitchen? *glances at massive pile of trash and recycling on the counter* um. This seems like a viable area of competition.

    the executive function... it burns...!

    food probably?

some form of bread/carbs, some form of meat/protein, some produce... some things fresh, some things preserved, to protect against the possibility of a siege... sweet and savory, salt and fat, tang and spice and neutrally flavored bases for combinations... some things requiring no preparation ("snacks") and some things you can cook quickly and some things that you can start and forget about for half an hour or more... uhh some things to drink, idk what you drink, milk or tea or coconut water or pop... any bulk items you're running low on... paper products? trash bags? soap? idk

I am absolutely winning right now, because as soon as I learned my wife's dust allergies had gone from "mildly irritating" to "debilitating" and she wasn't just getting colds all the time, I leveled the fuck up. In the space of a week and a half, 1) I taught myself about dusting 2) completed a quest for our hard-to-find vacuum filters 3) completely broke down, repaired, and cleaned our vacuum, and 4) established an entirely new vacuuming, dusting, and laundry routine. Just today, I did two loads of bedding laundry, dusted our entire bedroom, and vacuumed all the carpet, the mattress, and both bedroom chairs - and started doing new research into vacuum attachments to level up even more. I'm unstoppable.

...at cleaning, at least. Now, balancing the increased chore load with keeping up with my knit work, my private and Grove-based religious studies, my personal crafting, and my relationships, that will be the real challenge.

No don't go home, train up and take me down! I've put years of work into getting this good, but I shouldn't get complacent - life always finds new ways to get challenging.

Yeah, in my boasting I cunningly concealed the fact that-
    • 1.5 weeks is not actually long enough for new cleaning habits to be locked in
    • All those other things I want to balance haaaaaavent been getting done as much as I'd like over that time period, and
    • I have increased DC ahead - Winter means increased respiratory illnesses for me, and decreased hand function due to old injuries.

You still did it, though. I'm still impressed.

You get a trophy. A point in your column, that can't be erased. But no, it was unfair of me to say we can't be rivals anymore. I'll catch up. Just you wait and see.

in acclimating to working full time again, i've neglected a number of my housekeeping duties

    the kitchen needs:
to have the floor picked up, swept, and mopped
the trashcan needs to be bleached again
    dishes need to be done
the sinks need to be scrubbed out
all the appliances need to have their faces washes
homes need to be found for our new kitchen devices, clearing up working space on the counters
the counters need to be reassessed, and what doesn't belong needs to find a new home
the counters need to be washed, and the kitchen update pvc tape needs to be placed on them

unfortunately, due a shift in plans last night, accomplishing any of this was impossible

however, today, i have finished clearing away the cardboard on the floor and swept, and am currently working on hand washing all of our dishes, as our dishwasher is broken!

alright, dishes are kicking my butt, and i'm needing to make a tactical retreat from the kitchen (for now)

however, i scheduled a massage therapy appointment for next week and made first contact with the neurology specialist i'm supposed to be seeing for my migraines. can you even?

Oh man, I'm overdue for some appointment-setting phone calls. It's too late today, but I could maybe research if any of the places will let me request by email?

I'm having a recovery day today, but I'm still setting some goals - I'm gonna cook the best dinner for my wife and I a bit later, and I'm gonna take off on a knitting sprint on this sweater sleeve right... Now!
