jesus that price tag made my eyes water I think

I don't play that much so i mostly pirate series and stuff, but SO MUCH of it is region locked. Like, if BBC let me watch strictly come dancing on it's page, I would! but it doesn't, so fuck it, I'm putting the jolly roger up again I guess

Do you not get the BBC on cable television? Around here we do, and then I tape (digitally record) whatever I want to watch and watch it back later

OH YEAH i used to pirate a lot of bbc content lmao some of it like documentaries and stuff i could get from youtube but the most of it was through the vpn channels. i could never understand why they region lock stuff. like, i know there are rational reasons, but they're stupid so i refuse to understand

Fucking fuck! 300 dollars?! I checked to see what that would be if you were talking reais and it’s still 71 dollars! That’s still more than I would expect to pay for a triple A game if it were brand spanking new. Yeah I can’t blame you.

I went into the data files of the demo for Minecraft and changed the amount of time I got in a single run to something very large, human days worth of time, because I knew the gameplay changed dramatically after your first couple in-game days with a new game, and I wanted to know if I’d still think it was fun. Then I bought it, but I think I paid maybe 15 to 20 bucks?

yeah it was 300 reais, tho i have to admit that it was a physical console copy in a mall store when it launched at peak hype. games here have to account for the dollar exchange rate + taxes + some for the retailers, and minecraft specifically had a huge upcharge for the 'im going to buy this so my kids shut up' crowd. nowadays it's a much more reasonable R$80. Triple As usually launch here for around that tho, maybe 20 bucks or so less.

I tried minecraft Once Upon A Time and still play it from time to time with the husband, but I am very uncreative with my houses and i never have the willpower to actually learn the advanced gameplay stuff. we'll going to purchase a legal copy eventually, when we have the stuff to make a good home server and whatnot, but that's like. For the future

Depending on where in the hype you caught it here, the price varied from dirt cheap to “okay I think maybe we can charge normal game pricing for this”. It was I think still technically in beta or something when it had already made a fortune? In any case, a brand new triple A usually retails at around 60 these days I think, though I confess I have not bought one for a while.

An indie would vary in price, usually from five to maybe 40, though anything over 20 enters the Big Consumer Complaint Zone. I think Gone Home retailed for 20??? though I knew someone who knew someone, and the first someone Really wanted to discuss it with me, so my broke ass was lucky enough to get a key from one of the team members indirectly. Lots of people had a Big Mad about the price but I think they were being ridiculous and probably didn’t actually see everything important. The Witness I think retailed for 40 and there was serious grumbling, but it was very difficult to pull the same argument about cost per hours of play with a pure puzzle game since most people are not gonna be so fast about solving puzzles that they can make that argument, and the immediate counterargument would be that they probably missed some big shit if it didn’t take them a very long time to solve everything.

Established game studios that are not triple A sometimes get creative so it’s hard to say what they’d do. I think Telltale was releasing games in discrete story chunks called seasons that you could buy individually and pretty darn cheaply, or you could buy a pass for all the seasons for a discounted bundle price. I don’t think I ever heard any complaints about their pricing.

Because Minecraft was a game from a new creator, entered the market in a big way before it was finished, and was built in Java by someone who was well aware that this was not the best of situations, it was firmly in the indie category. Pricing was set accordingly.

i mean. the Base Price for AAA games has Not Changed from 60USD flat for like 15 years, a fact the games industry is immensely proud of and that is in fact a Motherfucking Boldfaced Lie, since that is what I like to affectionately call the Peasant Edition.
Generally if you want to have a full experience these days you have to like. Pre-order from a specific retailer (and missing out on the exclusives for the other retailers) for somewhere around 80$ to a slap-in-the-face 120$, bc season pass for upcoming dlc (bc why finish a game by the actual publication date uwu), retailer exclusive deluxe edition gimmick horseshit, possibly a publisher-subscription specific early launch (thanks for THAT bullshit, EA!!!) and whatever micro-transactions you may possibly need to make the game not an absolute grind, but hey, if you're lucky that edition comes with stickers and a neat cardboard box!
For all their other faults at lead CD Project Red opted out of all that, Cyberpunk 2077's base edition already looks like the average deluxe edition launch and I think the collector's edition literally just contains more exclusive physical merchandise like statuettes and coins and such.
anyways it's interesting to see this kind of stuff, bc around here apparently adjusting for exchange rates is For Other People, our Triple A Peasant Price is also 59.99€

I have two 90%s so i have to get like, a 30 to pass the class, but i also have period cramps and since my laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, that also means stabbing pain in my belly button that make things go real dizzy for a moment. So that's fun! Also all my ibu stashes have run dry

Today was physio final and she also said!!! She really liked my hair color!!!!! That my teal was pretty and suited me very much!!!!!!

Shes a lil older lady around my mom's age that looks very conservative and traditional, so the type of person I wouldnt be surprised if they had issues with my looks. Especially because she commented I looked 'very modern' first day of class and that's ambiguous/damning with faint praise phrasing

I'm just. happy. I worried a lot about my hair this year and so far I only had positive comments
