A valuable takeaway 3rd ep I'm concerned that that was the face he wanted to see That expression seemed nauseous and a little horrified, not happy surprise And now the previews make sense, it being the freed Rose Quartzsz - all the trailers were intentionally ominous Amethyst's face in the line when she sees who he's with, tho Greg "NOPE" Universe Pearl and Garnet noping out more quietly is so much more healthy than Steven overcompensating and lying about his discomfort The curly haired Rose, who looks the most like her, seems to get what's going on the best And that's a cute resolution. A healthy apology, acknowledging repeatedly that it's not their fault and he should've been more forthright about the discomfort It's a good moment of, by not saying your truth, you leave room for others' fears to flourish And realizing they're more like siblings - all connected by being made by her - leaves room for connecting... eventually. With better perspective 4th ep Alarming that healing didn't fix the problem The pink glowing is really coming on a lot, thanks for waking something up, Jasper "Did you come to compete" [again] Pearl I love your pointed barbed comments but boy howdy can I hear the weight of history dripping off that comment ...Interesting that Pearl thinks it was White Diamond, but Pink Pearl knows it was Pink Diamond. Nobody bothered to mention it And damn, Pink Pearl moves with some of the same body language as Spinel Pearl still doing this jittery simultaneous thing of trying to put the past behind her and be proud of who and what she is, but tripping over reminders of what she wasn't but wanted .... "And that set her off" Aw man The first set of visual memories Steven got trickled in was of Pink snarling and punching a window, wasn't it? And, the timing of things... Over 5k, the big battle with that ruined rose-filled battlefield A little over 6k, Spinel left beind in garden. Something like 8k, White Diamond took control of damaged Pink Pearl. Didn't catch when the injury was... but at least 8k. It seems like Pink Diamond raged over not being treated as an adult, her power splashing out and severely damaging Pink Pearl... and compensated hard with self-control, and secrecy Unclear is whether the others locked her in her room BEFORE her power started lashing out to express things more emphatically, or AFTER in a get a hold of yourself way But that tangle of hurt by her family and hurting others is part of the core of Pink|Rose ... The Pearls fusion is a delight Immediate Utena impression, especially in light of a whole abused people hurting others while they're still clambering for approval and control theme And the silhouettes with the red light underlined it ...Hindsight, seemed like Pink was biting her tongue dealing with Spinel the last few interactions. I wonder if the impression is supposed to be, stay here so I don't hurt you too Like, it seems like Pink whiplashed from one way of trying to minimize hurting people to another, with an urgency that's gotta be from knowing she's hurt people before Something about that bluescreen on Rose's face with Greg in the fusion flashback, on "I'm... not... a real person" Something White said about what piece of herself Pink was/reflected Healing and breaking Breaking and healing, those are such linked concepts. Roses and thorns, too. And, more lightly, Spoiler: a family resemblance on seeing Roses:
We do also know the episode descriptions! In case you don't want to spoil yourself on them, they're under the cut: Spoiler: SU:F episode description spoilers "Snow Day": Steven and the Crystal Gems get a chance to catch up when they're all snowed in together. "Why So Blue?": Steven has heard rumors of a pair of Gems that are still destroying worlds. If he can't stop them, maybe Lapis can. In other words: LAZULORE Also I love the description for "Snow Day" because the way people react to it really demonstrates that there are Two Types of People. About half of everyone I see online is expecting it to be a comfy snow day episode (along the same lines as Winter Forecast, maybe?), and the other half are expecting Drama and Tears
Look, after the episode where “Steven helps Pearl find her phone”, I have no reason to trust these people.
Yeah, the comedy episodes in SU are things like 'Rising Tides/Crashing Skies' , 'Hit The Diamond', and 'Kindergarten Kid' and the dramatic episodes trick you with 'Lion 3: Straight to Video' and 'Catch and Release'.
It's going to be comfy just because we've all been primed for maximum drama. The crewniverse know what they're doing.
Honestly, I will be very surprised if the Crewniverse brings in any major new drama - stuff that can be resolved inside an episode, yeah, but the Future episodes are a big denouement, resolving what's been left hanging, not introducing much new.
I mean... aside from the Super Saiyan stuff, at least? But even then, no new drama doesn't mean no drama, there's plenty left to explore.
I didn't say there wouldn't be! Just that any new earth shattering plot twists are... pretty unlikely.
