svetlana grows up to be billie eilish. genuinely creepy and menacing on the job, but a goofy punk among friends. that is her Good End: she heals from the emotional abuse and neglect from her dad, gets trained in badassery by her foster dad, and becomes confident in herself. from being the living doll whose literal reason for existence is to become a femme fatale, to being a young adult who doesn't care what anyone thinks of her unless she's chosen to respect their opinion. the nobles who wanted to make a puppet ruler out of her would be extremely disappointed if they weren't all dead by that point.
re casimir's plotline: tempted to start with him about to be sacrificed in the bog, then do a record scratch and "i bet you're wondering how i ended up here." :P
Now I am seeing Svetlana having blue hair. And possibly traveling via magical portal to earth to go to concerts.
Lyrics: Tonic says, "Just a swallow." Snaps you back like a twig, 'till you 'waken a bit confused in the shoes of a lonely fiddler drunk at the barndance Romance exits the room Scraping strings for a fat chanteuse... And there's none to desire you, Whisper, "fine," and just let it go. Is nightshade a food or a poison? Do you follow my reason? Is reason important? (Porque manyana a lo me hor ay un entierro)* Fortune fled He stumbled off the Heaven's edge. Sixty bottles beside the bed. Magic medicine takes his easy head down the bottom. Grab the root from the stem. Box the compass and back again. Fall in love with a spiral. Where it leads only Heaven knows. So persuasive and silent, Like the oceans of vertigo. Is nightshade a food or a poison? Do you follow my reason? Is reason important? At all?! (Porque manyana a lo me hor ay un entierro)* Potions keg Shifty gifts from the Dead. Drink your spirits and pray forget, how unfortunate, Some are pixie led through the forest Where the time passes slow, You've forgotten to turn your coat, and now you're growing old. And reason is spinning itself into gold. And all time is frozen once reason's been sold. Is nightshade a food or a poison? Do you follow my reason? Is reason important? At all?! (Porque manyana a lo me hor ay un entierro)* * (Porque manyana a lo me hor ay un entierro - English translation - Because tomorrow there may be a funeral)
mood music for casimir doing shaman stuff, particularly as a young exile alone in the woods. he tells himself he's seeking out mind altering substances because they help him do magic, but there's a lot of trying-to-escape-himself going on there too.
casimir's villain theme. tongue in cheek but deadpan. this grandiose, operatic, very masculine guitar metal -- and it's a cover of billie eilish going 'might seduce your dad' and it's just. ideal.
i'm realizing music has to be a strong thread running through the story. casimir's magic is anchored to chants and drums. gareth was raised by a bard of considerable skill, and he's not the type to balk at learning five or six instruments. or eight. or a dozen.
it's like nicki psychically knew i picked her as the inspiration for the war goddess and decided to help
i'm trying to think what bands would be thematic for gareth. it's not very epic, but i keep coming back to like... they might be giants, ok go, mika, all that cute nerdy pop. and then when he's being epic we get the very technical electronica type stuff.
I second They Might Be Giants. "Nobody Knows My Plan," "See the Constellation," "Women and Men," "Sapphire Bullets," Owl City, maybe? "Galaxies," "The Saltwater Room" "Fireflies," Helloween: Random selections from Keeper of the Seven Keys. (Dr. Stein might be more Casimir though.) "Future World"
Bleach-Stalemate crossover, because I will eventually crossover everything with everything: I have been thinking about Ichigo and Casimir having conversations, for not particular reason. except crossovers.
