I may have posted this before; I do not care.

 

So does anyone know wtf is up with cats and potatoes? Because my family cat will claw your arm off for a chance at a french fry (and then proceed to out fart the dog), and my baby just ignored the massive chunk of bloody meat on my plate to stick his face in my mashed potatoes. He's done this before. And has also gotten mad at me for disposing of potato salad containers before he could lick them clean.

I did a cursory search and all I could find is "is it safe for my cat to eat potatoes because my cat REALLY WANTS to eat potatoes" but no answer for why an obligate carnivore desires the Starch Package so bad.

 

Texture? Or alternatively the fat added to potatoes via cooking could be attractive to cats. Cats be cats. My Rocco used to love a slice of cucumber or some frozen peas to munch on, but miss Mitten disdains any human food beyond cooked chicken or fish.

 

i do not know why but one of my cats has been known to run past and steal chips out of the bag if one of us has any

 

my parents' cat is partial to a bit of cream cheese if she can stick her silly little head in it.

 

Cats also love the hell out of yeast to the point it's a common additive in cat food. IDK pal feline chemoreceptors are bonkers.

 

I am baffled, baffled I say, by the unbelievable beauty of this cat.
