Hello everyone I am Els. I'm 20, generally identify as a guy (so he/him pronouns) but as VastDerp once put it I keep one toe in the sands of the Isle of Lesbos. I am dating a very small mushroom who you may have seen around these forums somewhere. I'm phiemerald over on Tumblr, though these days I mostly use it to reblog Pokemon shit and keep up with Homestuck drama. I'm in university, about four months from graduating. I'm studying to make video games, which is really interesting to try to explain to bemused and clueless relatives. I will almost certainly try to flog my games on this forum when I start publishing them. I like writing and roleplaying an awful lot. (Also, I like playing Mafia. I think we should play forums Mafia here, if anyone else is interested. Mostly because the last time I signed up to a forum like this we played Mafia and it was great.) I will infodump about Pokemon and Fallen London at you if you ask; I also enjoy tea, video games in general, and, surprisingly enough, birds. So yeah! I'm pretty excited to try foruming again now that I'm no longer 13 and incapable of being coherent.
I've never played forum Mafia, but I hang out on a site called EpicMafia and we play a version of it there in chatrooms. It has a lot of silly roles so sometimes it's more like Calvinball than what I expect Mafia's supposed to be like.... But I probably understand it well enough to join in, if we do a game here.
@swirlingflight Yeah, I used to play EpicMafia, that site is pretty great :P unfortunately the gang I used to play with has pretty much dissipated, not to mention I'm in Australia so finding people in my timezone is a huge pain. Glad to know there's someone who knows it, though!
I am intrigued by this notion. I sort of want more, I just don't have the attention span to find them and add them.
@Valerie (sorry I'm double posting because effort) oh, hi! *waves* Yeah, I almost did a Creative Writing major instead but the study program was pretty much 95% Humanities Hell and I decided against it. I'm pretty lucky that mine seems pretty well structured so far ... well, you don't technically need a degree to make games anyway :P Seriously though, yours just sounds ... really poorly designed. Damn. Ooh, nice! I'm not going to infodump too much here because I absolutely think we should have a Pokemon Infodumping Thread and I'm actually going to go make/find one, but my all-time favourite game is Emerald, and I will happily tell you all about the pre-DS era. :P @seebs If I find any that I think would be good, I can shoot them your way?
Sure. The forum software has a way that it likes to have smileys packaged, and I don't fully understand this, but it appears to be possible to make them from tiled images.

Oh hey forum Mafia. I never really got a chance to play, but one of the other forums I frequent used to have a thriving forum Mafia community before the mods killed it. Might be fun to try here. I agree we need more smileys. Maybe we should make a smiley suggestion thread over in meta?
