Hi again guys! I just wanted to ask if anyone here knows much about various sleep aids that docs might prescribe. Due to my anxiety/depression/restless leg syndrome/whatever else I have, I have a very hard time falling asleep and then even while asleep I dont get very good quality sleep. I have to sleep like 11 or so hours just to feel functional. My psych is getting together with my General Practitioner about getting me on sleep aids to help with both my quality of sleep and to see if it will help me stable out on my emotional rollercoaster prob I get on.

So to anyone here that is/has been on sleep aids, are there any major things I should watch out for? Bad side effects? Length of time for adjustment? That sort of thing. Thanks!

Sorry this is only second hand knowledge, but with ambien at least I've seen it take around an hour to start working, and then after that you can end up sort of half awake/half asleep if you're trying to stay up, and you can end up mumbling what sounds like gibberish to other people- you also might not remember it or part of the time you're awake after taking it, so it'd probably be best to get laying down and such maybe a half hour after you take it if you can. Other than that though I don't think she's had any unpleasant side effects, but of course it varies from person to person as with everything else. Hope this is a little help!

@Alska I meant to reply to this sooner, sorry. Brain went blah on the communication front. Thanks for telling me that! Do anyone happen to know if there are any issues if you take it at different times? Sometimes my night shift job keeps me late and I would like to know if taking sleep aids will cause issues if I take them at different hours

Hey, no problem! No, I don't think they'll cause any issues if you take them at different times- the person I know who takes them works rotating shifts, and I don't think she's ever had problems with taking them in the morning as opposed to at night- I'll ask her when she gets home though, to make sure ^^

    Edit: nope, no issues!
