Does anyone have recs for nicely done media/fanworks with a post-apoc setting? Both soft-apocalypse and not-so-soft, preferably with lots of worldbuilding. Would prefer not comics/manga, but books/fics, tv/cartoons/movies, and games are all good.
Have you played Kenshi? The game is pretty much... only worldbuilding. There's no main story or even concrete goals, really. There's just a meticulously crafted world to try to survive in.
You might like the 100, it's got tons of world building and a crazy good plot with a ton of drama. It's also currently still airing, and it's in it's sixth season :0
Kenshi looks like a good idea, but The 100 is not what I'm after; I want stuff that's like, shortly after the apocalypse happens, not long enough ago that there are adults who were born in the new world.
Not sure how well it matches exactly what you're looking for, but the closest thing coming to mind is a post-Portal 2 fic I read a couple days ago called The Resurrection Project
Wildbow's Worm perhaps? It's ongoing-apocalypse though the setting does later go post-apocalyptic City and then expands from there. TONS of really intricate worldbuilding. Pretty dark take on the superhero genre, warnings for loads of violence of all kinds but IMO worth it for the plot and Charakters (female MC, but generally loads and loads of Charakters with really cool interludes allowing glimpses into many of them)
Are you ok with cancelled shows? Jericho is about a fresh apocalypse. So is fear the walking dead, a walking dead spinoff that is ongoing. There are some movies i mentioned in another thread ages ago that you might like as well:
Have you read Ashfall? it’s a YA novel set immediately after the Yellowstone volcano goes pop. i read it several years ago but i remember it being really good
