because I checked, and I don't believe there's a thread for this, and I want there to be a thread for it. so I can entice others into reading it. I know there's a general webcomics thread but I need a thread specific to this webcomic so I can Scream please read it please it's so good and I have no one to talk to about it please I'm begging it's about a girl named Ava and there's a demon attached to her and Things Happen and it's so good
I *love* Ava's Demon and the general feel of it, but augh that website has the WORST format for reading it. I get the gimmick of it but it's such a slog if you're on a slow connection or your internet is being funky that said, I think I've been keeping up with it more or less since the beginning? I really love Pedri I have such a crush on him he's my waifu i also love the anagrams and subtle clues as to who's what, re: the sins and the people who are bound to them. Like WRATHia goes to someone with the last name of Ire, Pedri = Pride = Odin Arrow(gance), etc. I knew Pedri was Odin's little shoulder ghost from the beginning, and I knew what he represented because kd,gjkgjfg CLUES.
I honestly just starting reading it, and finished what exists thus far earlier tonight. it was SO GOOD. but it does not have a great format for reading it, no. and I'm in love with Nevy. and Ava. I love them both. I had not picked up on any of the subtle clues, though they do make much sense!
man, the author has been so under fire from tumblrites that at one point she quit Ava's Demon. From then until...like. I wanna say three or four months in nothing happened, then one of her assistants started to update in her stead. I don't know if she fronts in public eye anymore, but. Yeah, that was a thing.
She drew Maggie in a Grecian-like outfit that was translucent (but otherwise unable to see any nsfw). Nothing about it screamed sexualizing whatsoever, it was literally just Maggie standing with a dress on, looking forelornly to the side. They called her a pedophile, so her retaliation was to draw a naked Maggie laying in some apples seductively taking a bite out of one, with apples censoring her boobs. Nevermind the fact Maggie is 16/17 and she embodies Lust. Eventually (and I think it was to stave off the anger of the retaliation picture) she started drawing the other sin characters in same situations. Odin (laying in ice floes and dark water) and Gil (I don't remember what he was placed int), I remember for sure but I sort of drifted away before she did Ava (if she drew Ava at all). So it looked like it was a set all along.
I stopped reading around said wank myself, but I came away with a less than favorable impression of her from the period after it. She left tumblr, understandably, because tumblr was being shit to her, but I guess she was kind of nasty to some fans on twitter after that? So. The art's gorgeous, though, and I will probably binge it again someday, but I just have a sour taste in my mouth still.
