So while I've been posting on the forums for a while now, and lurking in some areas too, I figured it was about time to write a little "hi, this is who I am!" I found this forum via Seebs, of course, who I've been following a while due to falling in love with their spouse's excellent fanfic and hilarious circle of friends. Amusingly enough, Seebs followed me when I said sorry for saying some dumb stuff, which apparently is Interesting. I'm white latina, in my early twenties, and a dual citizen who grew up moving from country to country due to her dad's job. This has made me a third culture kid, which is mostly positive, but also has its negative sides, no the least of which is not fully belonging anywhere. In Bolivia, I'm the US cousin. In the USA, I'm a Bolivian who also happens to be citizen. Still, somewhat a global nomad, somewhat used to adapting, somewhat stubborn and hostile to what I consider dumb change, but also to what I consider dumb resistance to change. Figures. My romantic history is apparently some sort of shoujo manga, though thankfully the romantic hijinks and hilarious moments are in intermission. My friends say it has been a constant source of entertainment and amazement. Biologist who happens to not have a job right now, graduated from college, likes to read, and draw, and primarily in the Homestuck fandom. You've probably seen me on tumblr as rairii, or might have me following you as broooer, from my muggle Quidditch days (yes, it is an actual sport, we are so badass, thank you). Reasons why I will probably use this forum: my own fun experiences in BRAINweird, mostly consisting of my dysthimia, which is being treated and considerably better than it used to be, ocasional social anxiety, and bad reactions to stress and its management, and my unfortunate sensitivity to anything related to suicide thanks to a cousin pulling the trigger. Um, what else. I adore food, particularly anything spicy or that uses limes, and will ramble on and on about the delicious cuisine you can find throughout the entirety of Latin America. I am so sorry, supertasters who cannot stand cilantro. I wish I could make it taste like it does for me!

You've actually played muggle quidditch? oh man oh man this is cool. My area does not have a quidditch team, and I am sad all the time over this fact
@Wiwaxia Let me guess... was it a post about losing a family member to suicide? Seebs likes that story. Btw, you have an excellent profile picture (what is it? That gel glutinous glob makes me think of weird sea critters but the background colours look more like garden blurs), and your title/whatever of "problematic taxon" has me giggling. I am proud to be associated with both Science and Limes. I am obviously doing something right. @boyacrossthestreet OH BOY I HAVE. I was Captain of my team when we reached fourth place in one of the World Cups my sophomore year <u< And my team is the second oldest in existence, the first match was between Middlebury and Vassar. I'd suggest starting a team, but I know how absolutely hard it is, so I hope you get to meet players and play a few matches! It is super fun, if a bit hard to keep track of gameplay at first. SO INTENSE. Considering that this is the game that a) fractured my tibia where it meets my rotula b) gave me a concussion and c) took over a lot of my college life, I absolutely love it, and the community (QUOMMUNITY), so if you get me started on it I won't stop. :P
That is amazing. I'm moving soon, so maybe I'll find a group where I end up, too. I've skimmed some of the rules and it does seem kind of complicated, but it seems like it's based pretty well off of Quidditch. Maybe I can hijack my cousins into it.
One of us, one of us, one of us!!!!! But seriously, if you find a group and get to watch and play it becomes easy to pick up! If you ever want any advice or want to see if there are any unofficial groups I can ask around the Facebook groups of your region to see if anyone knows any team particularly close. I'm sure I know someone who knows someone nearby, by this point.
Correct on both counts, actually! My avatar's a glass bead I made in the form of a Wiwaxia, a extinct marine Cambrian invertebrate of, uh, contested phylogenetic position (hence the user title), and that's my very out-of-focus garden in the background. :D It's definitely on the down low, even with intense stress this week from dealing with taxes. Thank god for meds that work and having had a year + off for resting and recovering with the 'rents. I AM IN AWE OF MYSELF I didn't think I'd actually get that right, seriously, even the garden, and, ah, can I see more photos of the glass bead, and maybe other beads you might have made because that is COOL. Please don't mind the eager puppy tendency, I just get excited about stuff :D HEY ITS A SOUL I THINK YOU ARE COOL TOO *high five as shades descend*
