so @palindromordnilap and I were thinking that there ought to be a word for being someone's favorite person, kind of like the depended/dependent thing in the DPD community.
I'll copy paste the rest from a post I made.

    okay so
    the proposed idea:
find a term for being someone’s favorite person/the person who has a favorite person, similar to the depended/dependent thing dpd has.

    as ideas, we have:
    1. replace ‘favorite person’ with ‘imprinted/imprintee’ where imprintee is the person who imprinted on the imprinted, and imprinted = favorite person
    2. use ‘favorite person/imprintee’ where imprintee is the person who imprinted on a favorite person

    pros of idea 1:
    - new terms that we can use to better keep out nts (favorite person is very general, where ‘imprinted/imprintee’ could be more specific and more ‘ours’)
    - new term so easier to spread around rather than just altering an old term
    cons of idea 1:
    - not everyone uses ‘imprint’ to mean ‘favorite person’
    - ‘favorite person’ has been around a while, and it might be hard to replace it

    pros of idea 2:
    - still has ‘favorite person’ in it, so those who don’t use fp and imprint interchangeably could still use fp, and we’d just have to alter rather than replace
    - has a term for being the imprintee of a person, similar to being the dependent of someone, so people could say “(name) is my imprintee” or “I am (name)’s favorite person” interchangeably
    cons of idea 2:
    - adding to the term ‘favorite person’ to include ‘imprintee’ might be difficult
    - doesn’t really fit the original idea, which was ‘want a term for saying “I am (name)’s favorite person”’

    opinions/other suggestions/comments/questions?

so....what do people think/have to say? what idea do you guys think would be better?

Repeating my opinion from my reblog: I'm personally in favor of the first idea (replacing FP/no word with imprinted/imprintee), because the words are related and it's more intuitive for people who are familiar with the dependent/depended thing, but I'm okay with whatever people decide to use. I just think a word for "Person whose FP you are" is, if not necessary, really useful.
