well, i gotta say, 'zombieland' was pretty great. bill murray as himself-but-undead was a hilarious moment. funny zombies are my jam.
The Cordycep zombies from last of us are one of my favorite zombies. I already love mushrooms and zombies, and those critters are the perfect matchup. The walking dead zombies are kinda bland, but i did love the extraness when everyone realised they'd turn no matter how they died. A lot of zombie media isnt brave enough for that and i appreciate it for going the extra mile. It depends on the day what my favorite zombie media is, but the first season of helix? All time fave. The characters are interesting, the method of infecting, the mysterious appearance of the disease tied up with huge conspiracies, its all really fun. May talk more tomorrow, its getting late. I just have a lot of feelings about the undead and how theyre presented
Oh here's a question! Do y'all have a requirement on whether or not a zombie has to die first to be a zom, or do you play a little looser with the rules (eg quarantine and the like)
Probably unpopular opinion: zombie bites getting hidden from a group until it's too late is overplayed and boring
I found this a while ago, it's a webcomic about a zombie who is a picky eater and finds a girl and he can't decide if he wants to eat her or date her. The zombies in general have a lot of intelligence but are still a slave to their new urges to kill and eat humans. It's a very funny and sweet comedy piece and I love it. imo zombies can totally be alive. i mean the origin of the term/concept was people enslaved with neurotoxins, and 'walking dead' was just metaphorical. i see no reason people can't be zombified without actually being dead.
my favorite zombie fiction (and one of my fave fics ever, period) is Now, As Before, a Watchmen fic by etherati. It has zombiism as basically an extreme metabolic disorder, which works really well imo. Spoiler: major spoilers for the fic some people who get bit lose their minds immediately, but some people are immune to that part and just get the blue flesh, one-heartbeat-a-minute stuff. They need to eat a lot of meat or they’ll lose their lucidity, though. Also caffeine and other drugs are like ten times as effective on them, and they feel cold all the time because they don’t generate their own heat anymore. anyway it’s an amazing fic and i highly recommend it, A+ zombies and also writing
All the zombie fiction I actually like are fanfics. My favorites, if anyone's interested. All six that there are, and most I like for the character development over the worldbuilding. Which is kinda sad for the person who made this thread. I like a lot of zombie concepts, but not many executions.
