here's a thread for venting about shitty writing, aborted/derailed arcs, Unfortunate Implications, and so on in things that you love or are otherwise invested in enough for their bad handling to be an ongoing, rant-inducing thorn in your side. feel free to provide as much context as is needed to understand the bullshittery, but all i ask is that Really Long Explanatory Posts and spoilers where applicable go under a cut. have fun! Spoiler: preliminary lorien legacies microrant (making this thread partly to have a place to screech about the infuriating shit that happens in the lorien legacies book series. WHY SO ABUSE/VICTIM-BLAMING/MASS MURDER/GENOCIDE/INTERNMENT CAMP APOLOGIST, AUTHOR)
(cw CSA) *steeples fingers* Alright, Spike Chunsoft. I get what you were going for in Dangan Ronpa: Another Episode. 'If you horrifically abuse children, they'll be susceptible to manipulation by the literal avatar of despair and they'll probably end up killing you.' Bit hamhanded, but noble intent. I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you meant the Lil' Ultimate Sexual Abuse/Child Pageant* section to be disturbing on purpose. You still didn't need to include an interactive section where a 10 y/o attacks the 16 y/o protag with what I can only describe as a Gropeatron 3000. And you definitely didn't need to show me multiple 10 y/o panty shots. (as opposed to her friends Lil' Ultimate Alcoholic Dad, Lil' Ultimate Parental Abandonment and Lil' Ultimate Overachiever)
HELLO HAVE I EVER MENTIONED I LOVE WARRIORS LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT WARRIORS My god, the Erins have such a repetition issue. I get why, you're on the sixth series of six books each in your series about cat clans, but come on. You have to have more ideas for how to make interpersonal drama than stereotypical het relationship stuff, forbidden romance, and fridging girlfriends. You've done some great things. You turned skyclan from a weird gimmick into an interesting question about the rules a society builds itself around and you will hopefully continue that arc into the new series. but did series five seriously need the two main characters to both have two dead girlfriends before they get their mate that doesn't die??? seriously? At least the first series' deaths had a good sense of randomness- some cats just died from greencough, that's how life works. Now the clans are like. no no one is ever going to die from greencough again. come on, i know people got attached to all the characters, but you've got to let them die of illness and accident and battles at a brutal randomness again, it's what made warriors stick out and work. The third series was the worst for a reason, because no one died. there were no stakes. just Who's The Father?? drama. dont you fuck up the sixth series. i expect skyclan to have moral struggles of lifestyle and alderpaw to join shadowclan, i will accept nothing else also please make Rowanstar have more characterization than just being Blackstar 2. I loved blackstar but he lived longer than a wild cat should and he is resting happily in starclan, he and his grump deserve to die. Shadowclan and Thunderclan's leaders are brothers in law now, work with that. these two traditionally enemy clans having a mate/sister in common could be so interesting and a great connection point. please. i need it. Rowanstar needs to have soemthing appealing about him to make him Tawnypelt's mate, she doesn't take shit. Show that.
listen i am SO upset at how the dancestors were shafted. like i get it, twelve new characters who aren't plot relevant has gotta be pretty hard, but. why would you even introduce them and give them the POTENTIAL to be fuckin amazing if you're just going to kill them off by the end. like Please i need to know more. what was mituna's accident. how did lord english corrupt damara when as far as we know, lil cal was never in the A1 universe. did kurloz have something to do with cronus's hope crisis. was portula ever canon. is porrim right about the gender skewing of political figures or is she the equivalent of an MRA grasping at straws. B E F O R A N A N C E S T O R S. aaaaaAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHH
Given the author note about the contrast between her brand of social justice and Kankri's I feel it may be safe to assume that Porrim has a point. I tend to. But beyond that really outside of two of them we just don't...Have much on them.
