for my sociology homework i had to give myself mild culture shock so i went to a turkish food place and ordered whatever. i ended up with a beef wrap, some baklava (which i was very excited abt), and salgam suyu so salgam literally means 'turnip water,' but its made from red carrot juice thats been fermented with berries and, in this case, spiced i checked with three different sources to make sure the people werent fucking with the obviously confused white person because i took one sip and was like 'this is salad dressing' im not kidding i want to put it on a salad cos i bet it would be amazing but i feel like the ghost of some turkish person would be standing behind me reacting the way i would if i saw someone pour a mango smoothie on their french fries conclusion: this aint for me
oh my lord fries in a frosty is the best thing ever. i don't remember why i started doing it. i think i had heard that it was a thing? and then i was like "well what the hell the worst that'll happen is that i'll be down one french fry" and then it was likE HOLY SHIT FLAVOUR EXPLOSION
well maybe i will consider it then and ill put the carrot drink on my salad but i might have developed a taste for it by then. its growing on me x)
that sounds like a rly good thing to do for homework ahaha it's always great to make yourself try new things! did your teacher set it or was it your idea?
Actual real-life Turk here to say that Salgam Suyu is indeed somewhere between "V8" and "Balsamic dressing", but I personally find it tasty.
It was good! tasty meat, crunchy veggies. there was some kind of yogurt sauce on it, i think, and the guy made the bread for the wrap right in front of me which was really cool. there was... a lot of beef though. like, three sandwiches worth of sliced beef and comparatively few veggies.
