I've only ever watched this show like three times but I had fun the times I did. I really love and respect costume and effects guys so it's my bag.
AHHH I LOVE FACE OFF I REALLY MISS BEING ABLE TO WATCH IT. Netflix has a similar show called skin wars about body painting but its like eating store brand froot loops, its just not the same.
FUCK I FORGOT THAT THE SEASON PREMIERE WAS LAST NIGHT I hope we have it recorded aaaaaa (Also it is so frustrating that you can't see Face Off on anything but SyFy's site. I can't even buy boxsets in stores. Let me rewatch Laura and Rashaad in all their glory.)

Honestly? Honestly. That season was so good, in part because LAURA but also because you could tell that the judges and all the other contestants knew it was her game, but still worked hard and fair anyways. Fuck, the obvious over-the-top production manipulation of her original season pissed me the fuck off though. Like, obviously the comeback underdog was going to win. She got all the screen time. She got a fucking redemption arc. She didn't deserve to come back, and it's really telling that they never implemented that system ever again.
I'm also forever angry about the anime episode. Both the only Japanese-American conveniently being knocked off before they went to Japan (wonder why lol) and the fact that one of the least racist portrayals got knocked for """"not being anime enough""""". I was literally screaming at the TV with my bemused and delighted parents looking on as I watched that episode.
wait what. what was the theme. darn drama i literally just want to watch a bunch of people do cool creative makeup stuff. i don't need a storyline. just that.
the theme to the racist episode? Wait were they just trying to do 'disguise your person to look entirely different.' and nearly everyone decided 'well in this case, the way to go is *insert-appropriate-word-here*face.' Why.
Yeah let's see how this goes... The preview thumbnail does not give me much hope. Anna.... I mean it's kind of uncanny valley but ok? Johnny.... oh. dude. no. nooooo. katie....what? also is that ben franklin. oh god the difference between face and lips/eyes is so creepy njorge.......goodness that is. very . wow. aggghhh. aghhh. that's so uncanny valley and also racist??? why.
Finally got a chance to sit down and watch our recording of the latest season and... episode one is missing the vocal track. We have closed captions turned on so we can see what they're saying but it just made everything ten times funnier when the whole episode is just DRAMATIC MUSIC. (That said, I am excite. I like the gimmick for this season already.)
Spoiler: s11e2 The judges have such a huge blindspot wrt wing construction and it drives me up the wall sometimes. GUYS? LEARNING ANATOMY APPLIES TO WINGS TOO. THOSE WINGS ARE BAD. THEY ARE BAD WINGS. Ughhh I am. So annoyed about this ngl. I forgot how much Niko's wins pissed me off. (Also totally called Stella and Jasmine going home.)
alright did Nevielle binge a shitload of anime during the break between seasons because he's all about that comparison this season
.... OH GOD IS THIS SERIES REALLY STILL GOING when will I be free of this (beautiful) hell Protip: never try to binge watch the entire show. There are too many seasons. You will be miserable by the end of it, no matter how much you love the show But, man, I really fuckin love this show. It's so much fun. Sometimes I get mad at the people for not doing alien-enough aliens, and there are some other iffy things, but overall this show is just SO GOOD I got to meet Roy in person at DragonCon last year and I shook his hand and it was SO COOOOOOOOL. ROY'S MY FAVORITE. I have a signed photo from him and everything, man, it was so cool and I just wish I hadn't been so awkward when meeting him now pardon me while I go watch all of the new eps
ahhh, watching this I am reminded of my roommate and I's Face Off Drinking Game (warning: to be done with non-alcoholic drinks, preferably, or else you might die) Spoiler: The Rules Take a drink if: --Anyone utters the phrase "it's anyone's game" --"I'm really hoping the judges don't notice" (bonus if the judges do notice and point it out) --"a bad paint job ruins a good sculpt" or vice versa --"I'm definitely going home" (bonus if they are then in the top looks) --"Someone's going home tonight" (yeah no shit that's the whole concept of this show) --Overly Dramatic Suspenseful Cliffhanger when something could possibly go wrong (bonus if it's Mold Drama) --Poor Time Management --Judges interpreting the challenge vastly differently from the contestants (especially with ~WHIMSICAL~ challenges) --"I'll just have to remember to do this thing later" and then forgets to do the thing later ... there's other stuff but I don't remember them off the top of my head (edited to add some more that I remembered)
