i know there's specific threads for different series and characters and all that, but i wanted a thread for superheroes in general! i know a lot of people on here like superheroes (and supervillains, and everything in between) and thought we could get some interesting talking about the genre itself! i'm not really good at analyzing things as deeply as others can, but i always enjoy hearing others' opinions and thoughts. here's some stuff i've been thinking about: what do you personally distinguishes a superhero from a regular hero? is it just fantastical power(s)? what do you think draws people to a superhero story? who's your favorite(s)? there are a lot of marvel fans but i'd love to see other supers in other mediums discussed as well if anyone's interested (i'm talking from folklore to magical girls and everything in between). my real motivation for this thread is i want to talk about captain marvel and how conflicted he makes me feel but don't know enough about him or other dc punks to make a "just dc" thread.
yeah honestly that one comic where superman goes and verbally tears shazam a new one and then helps billy as clark gives me so many feels. and every time i've seen a cartoon with captain marvel it's just him being constantly ragged on about how he needs to grow up and act like an adult by the rest of the league and it just hits me really hard because they don't know. this kid's childhood was ripped away from him and he just has to carry the world on his shoulders and it's heartbreaking and relateable and i just love this character so much. i love wonder woman she is Good and Amazing. also garnet definitely counts imo.
