Hello, y'all! I'm RJ, I've been coming here to read brain troubleshooting threads for a while now, and I've recently realized I needed more social interaction. The people here seem interesting and non-threatening, so I thought I'd give it a try? I'm 20, socially awkward, and haven't gotten the hang of this whole 'adult human' thing yet. I'm genderqueer and have executive dysfunction problems, so I'll probably pop up talking about those occasionally. I'm a biology major, and will happily talk about cell bits and various lifeforms for hours. I also like anatomy, psychology, genetics, and observing human behavior in all its myriad forms. I really like learning things, and I don't have much of a squick factor, so 'TMI' doesn't really compute for me. I love language, and I've got a couple of fantasy stories I write on & off. Am mostly attempting to create functional magic systems and apply the law of conservation of mass to shapeshifters. I have a lot of fandoms I'm interested in. FMA and One Piece, the MCU, Star Wars, the middle portion of Terry Pratchett's body of work, a random assortment of well-written children's books (anybody here heard of the Enchanted Forest Chronicles?), the Epic of Gilgamesh (now /there's/ what you'd call a dead fandom), and even "the classics" although sometimes those are for shouting at rather than enjoying. I also like non-fiction books with good narratives to them, like Mary Roach's stuff. It's nice to meet you! P.S. Are there any social conventions on kintsugi that I should know?
Welcome! you sound cool! the only "rule" i can think of is dont be a jerk? By no means does anyone have to agree with someone else, but dont be a jerk about it. *shrug* there arent really hard and fast rules
"Witnessed" on here means something roughly equivalent to "I don't really know what to say about the bad situation you just described, but I want you to know that I read it and sympathized and you're not just shouting into the void." Welcome!
I loved Pterry's works so much. The City Watch books are my favourites, but only by a smidge, since the rest of the 'arcs' are great too.
Waves hand in excitement!! That was probably my first introduction to fantasy books with princesses, and I am so glad because it was so good.
Hey, welcome aboard the forums! We have a constructed language thread floating around here somewhere, if you're interested in that sort of thing.
enchanted forest!!! "rules" with kintsugi does seem mostly not to be a dick... and feel free to ask if there is an inside joke you don't think you're getting, congratulations you are now inside all the jokes now also, didn't animorphs do some weird conservation of mass thing where their excess *stuff* was booted out to z-space? that disturbed and fascinated me as a twelve year old
Greetings, fellow bio major! I too do not yet know how to do the adult human thing, am awkward at the socials, and have some stuff with gender and executive dysfunction going on, so *high five*. Also I would like to know more about the magic systems yes please.
hi, welcome!!! i'm not a bio major but i'm grinding towards med school and various cell bits are extremly fun. what's your fav character from FMA???

@jacktrash , that is possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen and had made me super happy. @RJ Green , Welcome! I can't wait to come across your contributions to the place, if you have any questions, I'm sure a lot of us will be willing to help explain a thing.
