Due to brainweird, it's hard for me to exercise for the sake of exercising, but it's fun to do certain things - I'm currently enlivening my garden with thirty 50ltr bags of compost, and lifting them on my shoulders and carrying the forty-odd feet from one end to the garden is much more fun than just going to the gym and doing arm-crunches. I'm also starting a beginner's course in archery, and it means I'm hauling back on a 15-20lb bowstring each weekend, as well. My shoulders hated me on sunday, lol Does anyone have any tips and tricks about getting hench arms in such a way? I know to lift with my legs, not my back - I wear a back brace and knee tape - and to stretch my arms before I start a little. Don't press on my elbow, just my shoulder. Does anyone have any tips and tricks on how to keep this muscle and not do myself an injury? Should I be doing pushups? When can I start using a door gym?
Well, studies have shown that stretching after working out helps develop muscles more, so don't forget that. If by door gym you mean those pull-up bars you can install in a door, you can do that at any point. Even if you can't pull yourself up, even just hanging a bit will help, and jumping up/starting on a chair so you can be in the top position and lowering yourself down as slowly as possible will get you closer to pullups. And chinups engage more of your arms than pull-ups, which engage more of your lats. And pushups will certainly help.
