We don't have Black Mirror thread and with the 4th season's teasings, I've deemed this unacceptable.

In ref to the title: Personally,
I literally cannot hear this song without crying. It is permanently associated with SJ for me.

My ranking from fave to okay thus far:
    1. White Christmas
    2. White Bear
    3. Shut Up and Dance
    4. Nosedive
    5. Men Against Fire
    6. Hated in the Nation
    7. Entire History of You
    8. National Anthem
    9. San Junipero
    10. 15 Million Merits
    11. Playtest
    12. Be Right Back
    13. The Waldo Moment

I'm glad that guinea pig made it. One more death would have been too much, especially considering HOW UNNECESSARY THIS WHOLE THING WAS HOLY SHIT. She would've been charged with what, not accomplice to murder because it was vehicular manslaughter not intentional homicide - maybe improper disposal of a body and failure to report an accident? She probably wouldn't have even gone to jail!!! And how many important people have similar charges and their careers bounce back!!! This! Wasn't! Necessary!

I super agree! I feel like this season is somewhat meant for making amends? Like, seasond 1-3 were predominantly about how scary and dangerous technology is, and how easily it can be misused (with the exception of SJ obviously) wile I feel like the overarching theme of s4 is that it can also be a good thing? Like, yes it can be used for evil but also can be used to get justice and do good. (with the exception of metalhead but thats just fun post-apocalyptic robot fights so whatevs)

He wasn't. I think the point is that the stuff Sarah was doing was within the realm of normal teenage experimentation, but the chip made her mom crazy overprotective, way beyond what was reasonable.

What really stuck out to me in this episode was how they play around with the visual indicators of what era it's supposed to be (e.g. fashion and sets) and manage to make it feel like the 80s and the present/near future at the same time, to emphasize (at least that's how I read it) how mom/teenage daughter dynamics stay more or less the same throughout the generations. Just. Really good storytelling.

Yeah, the aesthetic choices did a really good job conveying the narrative point.

I thought it was interesting that they chose not to make Trick a total sleaze and how they didn't show him pressuring her into anything, because I thought for sure that was the direction we were heading. But instead Sarah was allowed to be perceptive to the fact that he actually cared about her.

The dating app one was pretty lukewarm IMO. Nice twist ending, but otherwise kind of meh.

#6, though? Damn. I love some good old-fashioned killer robot horror.
I THINK those are the correct numbers anyway.
