As a long time silent lurker on the Northfield Crew's blogs I decided to use this occasion to come out of hiding and try to socialize for once. I don't know how that will go, but it can't hurt to try, right? Valerie isn't my real name, I picked it up from a game character. I'm 20 years old and legal in my country of residence (age of majority being 18). Aroace, apathetically female, she or they for pronouns, I don't fuss. Currently a college dropout after one miserable semester of pretending to deal. On the agenda: trying to curb anxiety enough to attempt a job interview. I'm not very active in fandom, having left tumblr months ago, keeping to conversations with a small group of friends on a private twitter account and skype. In my spare time I like to play on one of my three Nintendo consoles, read books, light novels, manga and fanfic and follow my favourite music group. I'm a casual Homestuck (currently not caught up on any post-gigapause updates, so please be careful with spoilers around me) and a Night Vale citizen. I'm almost entirely self taught, so my English is an unholy mess of British and American vocabulary, speech patterns and expressions I picked up from various media, foreign sentence structure and sometimes incorrect approximations of more difficult words which I think I remember, but don't really. Also, as a resident of Central Europe and what I like to call the Hipster Timezone, I may post at most weird of times and take a while to respond to you. I apologize in advance and I hope we'll get along.
The title of this thread is actually a Night Vale quote, from "One Year Later". No one noticed, so no one gets a cookie. I'm going to eat them all by myself. What, is that not how you play with other children? Boo D: Valerie is a Gym Leader from the Kalos region in Pokemon universe, specializing in Fairy type (it's a new type, added in Pokemon XY, the first 3D Pokemon game). The town of Laverre and her Gym itself are really beautiful and have a very enchating atmosphere. What made me love Valerie was her "defeat quote", given after you beat her for the badge. "I hope the sun is shining tomorrow... That would be reason enough to smile." Hardly anyone takes Pokemon games seriously these days, but they can be really deep and inspiring, and you never know when you might come across a gem like that.
