The Frood Abides Doesn't Know Where His Rug Is

I joined pretty early on, lurked for awhile, but after some time of reading this forum it started to feel weird not contributing. Might not be a very active user, but we'll see.

I followed members of the Founding Trio/Northfield Nakama on Tumblr awhile back (which is how I found this), but I'm not going to share my URL here because of reasons.*

About me: aspiring writer, huge nerd, sort of stalled halfway through university, trying to figure out what to do with my life. Pretty typical twentysomething, in other words. [waves]

*reasons as follows: parents reacted in different but equally unpleasant ways to my possible autism diagnosis when I was a kid, which left me with a fuckton of issues surrounding the subject. I haven't told anyone but a couple of my closest friends IRL and I'd prefer to keep it that way, so I'm not associating my presence on this forum with my presence anywhere else online. In either direction.

    Welcome to the party!

And yeah, haven't brought up my obvious autism traits with my mom for similar reasons. She's not exactly been not shitty about my autistic cousin.

Yeaaaaah. While my dad's "what do you mean my BRILLIANT son is RETARDED" was stupendously ignorant and clumsy, I think my mom's "let's scrutinize everything you say and do, write it down, and file it under Special Interest or Behavior, instead of interacting with you like an actual human, because I can't handle not having an explanation for why other people think my child is Defective" was more damaging in the long run. (More might end up on the Sperglord forum when I'm prepared to talk about it.)
