My name is Simon -- but if calling me harookanoo or haroo is easier, please do feel free to do so. I am a 25-year-old college student in Canada. My current program of study is a mixture of many things, but mostly social sciences and humanities (sociology, philosophy, history, literature, political science...). I plan to study maths and physics in university. I am an atheist, but hopefully one of the nice ones. I have used Tumblr before, and can be found on Twitter as well, but I use Tumblr rarely these days. I think Tumblr is overwhelmingly a poisonous place where it is usual to viciously dehumanize and otherwise abuse people for innocent mistakes, opinions that are perfectly innocuous but unfashionable, or anything else that somehow marks them as 'trash'. I am agender, have been dating a gorgeous brilliant darling lady for three years, and am also very proudly and cheerfully autistic. My psychiatrist also figures that I have GAD and OCD, but he isn't totally certain at time of writing. I have been diagnosed with depression as well. I have shot more than one anon message in the past to Tumblr users vastderp, jumpingjacktrash, and the-real-seebs! A couple of my anon messages to Seebs have incorporated variables $likeThis. I came here because one could always use more Chill Lovely Folks in one's life, and also because I am currently in an X-TREME HORROR household (alcoholic mother and enabler father who continually take advantage of me and my siblings emotionally and financially, to the point at which my sister is in debt she has no hope of escaping any time soon -- and that is just the beginning). I am getting by, if not fantastically, and could use all of the advice I can get while I attempt to reach escape velocity. Thank you for reading!
canada! me too! and yep, that's tumblr alright. if not for my few fave small fandoms, i would've left that site by now. as it is, i rarely make my own posts there and try to avoid reblogging controversial stuff. (my blog has been a no-politics, no-sj zone ever since i realized how messed up tumblr is. and though i ship some controversial ships and like controversial fan stuff, i try to avoid reblogging it. yeah...)
Another Canadian! :D My blog (still technically active) is principally a fandom blog too -- my current special interest is Free!, so the vast majority of my posts are about that somehow. Even so, though, it is so hard to avoid the horrid discussions that are not just unhelpful but outright harmful that it became much more effort than it was worth to keep using it on a regular basis.
@harookanoo yeah, it is hard to avoid them. but being kintsugi stops them from really getting to me, i think.
